Shims for an 84 Quadangle

A bit of info please chaps........... Are there different shim sizes as i have a Uni Pro and it is to be fitted to an 1984 SE Quadangle. The problem is the seatpost doesn't fit the frame like i was told. So in preparation for this i acquired a shim from an Aero Reflex to sit inside the Quadangle.

Sadly it still isn't enough and the clamp just doesn't tighten up on the post.


So..... What size do i need or what can i do about it, i was hoping to ride the bike so packing out with electrical tape isn't an option. ::)

 :) Don`t know about size,but there are plenty of shims on the market.

Hmmmm, the seat post James is 20mm and the space available in the frame is 23mm, when i fit the shim i have it still has 2mm of play in it. I'm assuming that even with my small pea brain there must be thicker shims out there.

Seems to be loads,but nothing smaller than a 25mm.I`ll have a nosey and see if I can find something suitable.Try asking in the wanted section,prob your best bet.

Old school seat posts were generally 7/8 inch, 22.2mm.
Except aluminium rippers/race incs etc that were 13/16 inch, 20mm.
Due to the thicker wall tubing of alu.
If the Uni post is 20mm, and its a uni shim this should take it to 22 mm.
There is quite often some play between post and frame until it gets clamped up.
