Just wondering whats the difference between Profile Box cranks 1st and 2nd generation .......apart from the price...before any smart arse jumps in with that!

may be wrong but ain't gen 1s more square looking and have no indent where the sticker is on the arms whereas gen 2s look slightly more round and are indented where the stickers sit on the arms :-\
