Are my bearings f**ked already! (2008 Floval Flyer)

Alright guys,
I've recently bought a 2008 Floval Flyer and have only ridden it to work and back a handful of times and already I'm getting a knocking and slight jolt as I pedal.
Does this mean the bearing are f**ked? I know a few people have had similar problems with these bikes.

 Have you made sure the cranks and pedals are tight?  ???

Yeah, I've given the whole thing a good tighten up and still no joy.
I'm going to give it another look today and see if I can sort it.

HEYWOOD BMX:
Strip it down,give it a clean/regrease.If it still grinds /clonks it`s certainly screwed..

I gave a good grease straight from the box because I'd heard of others that had teething problems.
I've given a good clean and made sure everything is tight and straight today and its alot better... but still not great.
oh well  :-\
