Araya 7x (24") compatibility with XT (mtb) V brake pads.

Just making a few changes to a recently acquired SE Floval Flyer and am wondering if I am going to damage my NOS Araya rims (purchased a few months back from The Burner King), by using Shimano XT V brake pads from a mountain bike (which are in good nick and have been cleaned)?

All fitted and adjusted up awaiting a blast tomorrow.....would hate to damage the rims unnecessarily.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
