Redline Techmatic BB
Bigplinky:
Hey Sean
I'm pretty sure they came out in 85/86 but I'm struggling to find a write up on them. JJ recon's he defo saw them in 87 but they were way expensive. Hadley BB £45 v's Redline Techmatic at £70.
Stickers are fine on mine :daumenhoch: and it polished up well ;)
Bigplinky:
Well BMX Plus March 87 is the earliest reference in a shop price list I can find so far, Nighthawk BMX, page 41

Andy
According to the 86 redline catalog they were due out early 86 but like you I couldn't find anything until 87 either. I did find a couple of 86 ads with the RL20, which appears to have them fitted. So 86/87 would be my guess too.
Wasn't it around this time that Redline were struggling and eventually sold out to Seattle Bike Supply. may explain a delay in these parts being produced
skids:
Was the reason they where so expensive, because you had to have a new spindle,
unthreaded like they are now?
Because I dont remember a sealed unit that went onto a threaded 401 spindle.

They are sealed bearings using the threaded spindle.
