chainring will most probably be anodice, so oven pride on that normally....  but if there is rust on it, it will be a steel chainring so nitromores on that...

Stodgy:
I think Bulldogs are powder coated so you'll probably be okay. Don't hold me to it though!!

Try a little spot of the 'mors on the back of the brake and leave it for 10mins to see if it starts to lift.
