chrome plating. i know nothing.
theRuler:
i got some bits and bobs that need a re-chroming. bars, stem, seatpost etc.
is it expensive to get done? anybody have a good tip for where i can get it done?
is there any preparation i can do, in order to reduce the cost?
lazychubs:
well u need the chrome stripped off and the metal highly polished to get the best results
try yellow pages for chromers close to you .theres a few down this way in essex but most dont touch frames for some reason.
theRuler:
so the metal has to be polished for the chrome plate to stick?
is there a good way to remove flakey chrome plate, or am i looking at a big tub of elbow grease?
lazychubs:
prob sand it off .and the better the prepared metal .the end result is better
cos they will charge for polishing
