Headset fitting
Thejackal:
I need to fit a pair of headset cups to a frame that I have bought..............
Is this easy/ difficult/ hard?
What gear do I need?
Is it something an amateur can do? Or do I need to put my hand in my pocket, and let someone who knows what they're doing have a look? ;)
Bettyswallocks:
Rubber mallet or hammer and a block of wood
Dont whack to hard and mind yer fingers... :daumenhoch:
pickle:
if you have never done one before and your frame is valuable then i wouldn't try yourself. the proper tool is a press that lines up the cups properly and presses them into the frame, your local bike shop shouldn't charge more than £10 to do it for you?
i normally use the good old fashioned rubber mallet and a big block of wood......but i wouldn't try this if you've never done it before as you do have to really give em a whack!

telelogic:
I took mine to a local bike shop who charged me £10 to put my head set & bb cups in.
took 5 mins' and meant that I didn't have to go hitting my precious with a hammer ???
look for a proper bike shop though, don't take it to Halfrauds or anything crazy like that!
