I've got a question about chrome 1 pc cranks
(1/1)
actarus:
I'm looking for a mint set of chrome 1 pc cranks (SR, Tagagi, Sugino...)
and I am wondeing why some have a silvery rough surfaced, forged looking finish while others have nice smooth chrome finish.
are the later necessarily re-chromed?
thanks!
oldtired:
no just the way they come cheaper ones tent to have a dullish finnish better ones came with proper shiney chrome, had a set of Hannabishi shine side they were show chrome , some on ebay are rechromed tend to be overpriced though
HUTCHMAN:
the cheaper ones were just the sand cast finish chromed where as the smoother ones basically had the sand cast finish sanded down, polished then chromed.

I'm guessing the cheaper ones came stock on completes and the smoother ones were sold aftermarket
...which would explain why you can find the same cranks from same brand but at different quality
