whats the best way to restore a chain???

Hi Folks..

as the above really, nice old chain but it's discoloured, removed paint (red links but it was flaking off)- was just going to clean in a parts washer and hope for the best.

Is there a better way to get it NICE!!!  ???

i leave mine soaking in thinners for few days, everyday keep turning it,and giving it light scrub with a soft brush...

wouldnt mind doing this with old D.I.D's or Izumi's :-\
