measuring spoke length?

Ive stripped a wheel down and need to replace some spokes, its a generic 7x style hub and a sealed suzue hub (low flange)
I've measured the spokes, from threaded tip to curved end bit and its 190mm? WTF?
this is doing my head in, please help :-[
