I'd sand it dry then paint it. When it's dry, wet sand it with 2000 grit. Then paint it again if you like. Then polish it after it hardens up a bit. I've done that in the past and it works well.

thanks, how long before polishing, a couple of weeks? what do you use to polish it with? thanks

if you have put a few layers on, t.cut works well, then turtle wax. careful with the t.cut tho.specialy on the knobbly bits, it will take it back to the primer if you rub too much. the idea is just to remove any surface blemishes, or orange peel effects.

wait as long as you can be arsed.
with acrylic i have done it the next day and its looked ok.
i wait longer if its cellulose.
yours is probably acrylic tho......wait as long as you can it will polish better when it has hardened /cured.
