painting a frame help needed

i usually stove enamel all my frames or re chrome but i have a cheep frame
that i am not spending squat on as it isnt worth nowt,i keyed it up then 2 coats of primer
at the mo 2 coats aerosol paint ,how many coats should i put on and what about laquer
i no it will scratch of easy but its not getting ridden .so coats how many and laquer how many
plus drying time

if youre using aerosole primer i would suggest at least 4 to 5 coats as its not that thick, then give a guide coat of black or a darker colour than the primer this will show you where you have been when wet flatting,the best way to wet flat is to use a water spray rather than a bucket as you can transfer grit dirt etc from bucket,wet flat with 1000 once all traces of guide coat have gone ,dry frame thoroughly then wipe down with panel prep degreaser if you have it, if not make sure its clean & dust free. if you use a solid colour you shouldnt need a lacquer but you will if you are doing clear over base colour, it should take about 3 coats to cover but this depends on your colour choice if you use lacquer 3 coats should do it  :daumenhoch:

put the frame somewhere warm to get it nice n hard

bear in mind that rattle can paint takes a week to harden

cheers guys its now in the house for a week then happy days when my misses gets home
i will tell her its cented candles ive been burning

the airing cupboard is a good place

or build a cardboard box around a radiator and put it there

heat is the key!
