Are you sure they won't fit ? Depending on the frame in question - rear wheel position within the dropout slot can be placed in a location that will suit the reach of the caliper  :)

Chuck a wheel in yer dropouts and get yer tape measure out :

The bike came with 890s as standard.  You might get away with 1020s at a push, but they would still be the wrong brakes for the bike if you wanted it factory correct.

i.ve put a set of 1020 on my daughters mini burner and they fit and work fine.
