Are they rare then as you don't see many about. I think there's only Rhys's in the Museum.
Also are they painted or powdered.
Where can you get decals from and are they different to normal TA decals?
I'll probably do it as a race bike rather than a freestyle bike though.
Here are some pictures. I'll take some more once it arrives. Let me know what you think.

the ta decal sets are the same as the standard except it has extra long on the main frame decal.
that looks a nice one has the original true temper sticker to
-
Whoooooo!!!! that is a full on Dirt bros bike!!! Not just the frame, all the parts on it are fresh out of 1990! It looks like its got the redline forks and peregrine wheels and everything!!! That has gotta stay just like it is, its a total classic!
-
:'( It's not a TA then. :'(
-
looks like a ta frame to me. not forks though
-
Does it have the arrow cut out on the rear dropouts??
-
thats what i was looking for but i think its one simon is waiting for
-
still a ta but made by dirt bro's
-
I'm a bit confused about the whole Dirt Bros and Skyway relationship.
I've asked if it has cutouts in the rear dropouts and what the serial number is.
-
the Dirt Bros (mainly Vic Murphy) got a job lot of ta frames from skyway (cos one of them was eddie roman who used to ride for skyway). ta frames were kinda worthless in the early 90s so they were making a point that it wasnt WHAT you rode that mattered. They put redline forks on it and sort of re sold it as a dirt bros frame set. They were usually seen with one brake (not that comon in "freestyle" then), a GT mallet stem, peregrine 48s and forklifter or bully bars. Oh, and a white Havoc sprocket pocket on a one piece crank with DXs.
Very very cool at the time ... and Vic Murphys riding still rules. Even clips from 1990!
-
that be a cool bike si, leave it as it is, you can always flog it to me, been watching it for a while but just couldnt make the jump
-
I'm in a real quandry now as i had intended to restore it as a proper Skyway TA XL. That was my intention originally as i love the restoring aspect.
I had the intention of poping some LG forks on it and keeping it as a show bike
I have to say the Dirt Bros thing doesn't really mean much to me so i'm undecided as to what to do with it.
-
zippo your so gay, dont feck it up thats all we ask
-
I might pass it on then or trade it. I'll wait for it to arrive and see what it's like in the flesh first.
-
Since i came back i've seen a couple of TA's done to look like Dirt Bro's bikes but that's the first i've seen that's an original. :daumenhoch:
-
Just got this picture from the seller with the serial number on.
I got an email from him today saying that the serial number on the bb was probably low.
"The only number I see on the bb is either a 9 or a 6. That woyuld make this an incredibly valuable bike if it truly were that low of a serial number!"
Picture of the rear dropout.

i can feel a zippy build coming on....... :LolLolLolLol:
-
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
DONT BRAKE IT UP!!!!
Hey, Quad, did I tell you I might have an 84 performer? (Im not joking, I just got a call about it)
-
I think I am going to build it a a Skyway, sorry Alex. I will keep all the other bits thought so That I can rebuild it as a Dirt Bros if I want.
should start a vote shouldn't I, see what the community at large think. :daumenhoch:
-
F**k the community. Hardly anyone here was riding at that time and dont know the dirt bros. That is like finding Bob Haros Torker and building it back to a race bike!
Just what we need .... another spec TA! :LolLolLolLol:
-
sorry si, but i gotta agree with alex, if you want a ta they keep coming up on usbay, £113 the other week, and you need ta forks for that one there harder to find than the bloody frames
-
listen up dude with the dirt bros, that shit is pricless. please watch 'ride like a man' and vic murphys section in it, it changed my life. BMX was lost in those years, there was a few people that kept it going, including the maker of that bike....
keep it as it is mate.

Ok, Ok, Ok
It's going to stay as is.
Should I restore it to showroom spec or keep it as a survivor?
Anyone got any brochures on the Dirt Bros bikes so that I can see what they looke like as they rolled out the factory so to speak.

"Showroom spec", "Brochures"? Spoken like a tru 80s rider! That IS showroom spec. If you wanna see a Brochure, check out the "Ride Like a Man" Vid that was made in Eddie Romans Bedroom. That is all the Brochures there were.
Sorry, Zippy. I am giving you a bit of a hard time, just playing with you a little. Great to hear you arent going to make it shinny and new. DONT REMOVE THE STICKERS. I really do think we need to talk about it cos that bike means so much to so many people (you should see my Email in box since you posted those pics!!).
-
and it saves me driving down and inserting an aerospeed arm somewhere ;)

The only thing you should change is take off the front brake and gyro, and maybe put on a front tuff
