Title: Lever Question
Post by: CurtisEXP on December 09, 2014, 11:44 AM

I don't see many Shimano DX levers used in resto threads on here, with most going for DC Tech 3's or 4's.

Same with Tech 2's. For me, quite an iconic (maybe too strong a word) 80s BMX design, but again not used very often.

Is there a reason for this? Are these levers 'out of favour' or just not very good?!

You see em on a few builds from time to time but maybe it's just personal preference. Not keen myself like...

I'm guessing they have been overlooked because they weren't part of many if any factory specs ?
I've just got one for my next build ... I think they are well cool ... As much as I love a tech 3 or 4  :smitten:

I think Tech 2s look better on V-Bars.

As for Shimano I prefer the SX 2-tone version the best.

you need the correct bars for Tech 2 otherwise they look horrible sticking out at the wrong angles

tech 2s dont work very well on full size pro bars as the reach is wrong.
dx/sx levers are good when they work but tended to break easily.
personaly i like both of them  :)

I have Tech 3's on my bikes as they're my favourite levers, but I also like the Haro 2 finger type levers. Don't know if they work very well though!
