Title: bmx gearing vs mountain bike
Post by: harris on April 02, 2007, 11:07 AM
right ive been out for a couple of rides on my mountain bike ,trying to build they old leg muscles up.
i was wondering if anyone nows what gear a 44/16 would be on a mountain bike gearing on 26" wheels
so i can get a good feel of what i should be pushing.

Dan

no mountain bike talk please!  :LolLolLolLol:

Don't think it would matter mate, just ride the bike in any gear and take it easy.

According to the chaps at Charge it's 36:16 on a 26" bike with 175mm cranks. (= 44:16)

SE run 39:18 on the OM flyer.

38:18 is probably nearest at 54.89 Gi (44:16 is 55 Gi - and 39:18 is 56.2 Gi), but it'll probably be a little 'easier' than 44:16.
