i need some info on making a pink seat i got off moose a darker shade of pink. i know this has been done on here before with black but i was'nt sure with this colour. but can you give a step by step in thicko terms please. as i dont want to melt me seat or for it to come out like pink camoflage :santa_afro:.
i've got a white one as well if that would be easier to do.
-
boil it in dylon dye. follow the instructions on the packet.
-
lol is that the thicko directions for me then phil.dont the boiling water melt em.
-
LOL not unless you are boiling it from water from the earth's core
-
nah. although dont let it boil dry, and use twice as much powder as they say. it comes in little tins the size of 2 jaffa cakes on top of each other. just follow instructions, it needs to be in for a while.
there is no guarentee how it will dye tho. use lots of dye, and keep checking it, leave it in for a long time. thats yer best bet.
-
when i have dyed stuff before i cut a sheet of mdf to fit bottom of pan leaving about 30mm from edges. hot boiling water and no chance of melting anything.....
-
Ohh and don't foget tons of salt otherwise the dye doesnt take.
-
cool would the white be better to try or the one thats already pink do ya think.
-
oh yes, you need loads of salt. feckin loads.not a quick shake,......like, a box..

-
lol just my luck.
after all that i go to dunelm. and the only dye they have is the same colour of the seat :idiot2:.
-
well, get either a red or a white to mix in a wee bit with the seat to try to darken or lighten it.
-
or you could always cover it with some of this, well comfy.

they keep the good stuff under the counter
you have to say the password to the checkout girl
-
thats where i went wrong then gra .
-
go to the checkout and ask the girl to show pink
-
ok i'll do that tomorrow.i was thinking of maybe brown now though. should i ask her is she does pink and brown then :santa_wink:.
-
you should ask her if she prefers pink or brown
-
i'll let you know what she says then .
-
I was always taught not to put salt while dying as the salt locks in the fabric (sealing it). I suggest bioling the seat with the dye solution then soak the seat afterwards in a cold/clean/very salty water solution. If you use salt during the dying process, the seat will only get as dark as the salt will let it before the salt starts to react to the fabric. Hope you haven't done it yet...
-
nope not yet. i've still not found a dye thats darker than the seat already is :(.
-
i like the idea of a furry pink covering.
