Just interested in what bmx treasures people have stumbled upon eg in a skip, river at a boot sale, or even a gem of a part on a bike bought on ebay you didn't expect to find on it, pics would be good too :daumenhoch:

came with chrome araya 7x rims built into kovachi hubs, sold them and bought the super pros with the cash, it also had single pinch redline flights, sold them for £250 and put a set of profiles i had been given a few years before on instead, so i basicly got the bike for free :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:

Bought a badly advertised and badly photo'd set of "early mongoose bars" on UK ebay.... turned out to be an NOS set of 1979 UNSTAMPED mongoose bars with mint decal intact and the original price sticker  paid 23 quid for them !!
....and took a punt at a mongoose frame on ebay described as "damaged squashed rear stay" had a sniff at the ropey pics and took a gamble and was right to, as it was a 1979 team frame with the flatened (not squashed !) stay - 70 quid including postage from the states  included a mint mongoose headset and a mint set of tange TX1200 forks - bargain :daumenhoch:

You get the odd bargain on there as they don't seem into OS at all.
-
I got a nice NOS pair or Rickman race bars on ebay recently for a good price. They were advertised pretty well, but the photos were poor and they didnt look NOS. They werent advertised as NOS either.
Before I got into OS, but was probably the reason why now I think about it, I drove past a chrome BMX frame and forks that had been flytipped at the side of the road. I didnt stop at the time (dont ask why not) but when I came back past it had gone.
It was probably some cheapo halfords shite, but in my head it will always be a TA or a Changa or something equally sexy. Shouldve stopped to check :(

Andy, would you consider a trade on the Hutch for my wife????
:LolLolLolLol:
I don't have it anymore, i broke it down for some of the parts and sold the rest on.
It was just a frameset in the end that i threw up in the loft with the intention of building at a later date.
Sadly i knew financially i could never really afford to build a complete Hutch so i traded it for some parts with a RAD member who still has it now.

About 10 years ago, when no one cared about BMX I looked for a cheap bike for my sister.
I found a decent one, felt a bit weird to ride but we bought it and she road it for a year.
I had totally forgotten about it until November and then I decided to have a look - just to see what it was.
Firebird Freestyler, white alloy hub tuffs, Woody Itson bars, Tuff Neck stem, DX pedals.
It was a proper nacker mind but I've cleaned it up a bit and sold all the parts on. Made a tidy sum out of it too.
Only problem was that all the cash has gone to my sister (save my cut of course).
;)

A couple of nice GT bits off ebay. The forks were a poor pic, thought they were black painted, turned out to be black chrome.
Also picked up a box of bits for a tenner, contained dia compe 890s, chrome MX900 and profile spindle and 5 arm spider.
Best maybe was suntour pedals for 7p

my mate sore an advert in the paper ( bmx for sale) a few years back for £50 , he bought it not really knowing too much about bmx's . it had been in his shed for 5 or so years .
i started getting back into oldskool bmx 2years ago, he told me about this bike so i went to see , its was only a 84 eddie fiola gt pro performer complete, all the tuf/pro neck gold items , gold dx's, skyways , all abit ruff though , as i'm such a good mate i chucked it in mi car and fooked off ,
ive been restoring it for the last 8 months , and it just about done , going to give it back as a surprise,
i thick he'll lay an egg when he see it.
i also spied a ammaco freestyler in his shed . ;D

A friend of mine swaped his PK Ripper to his mate for a quater of smoke in about 1991!!!, then about 3 years ago he was driving past his mates dads place and saw his dad was on the driveway filling up a skip with sh*t so pulled over to say hello. Whilst talking to his mates dad he noticed a bike frame and forks under someother rubbish so took a closer look...................
You guesed it, his PK!!!!!!!!!. His mates dad was binning it!!! Mike asked if he could have it and he said yes. Pukka. :daumenhoch:
