well they aint got any prettier but they could always take a beating, at least the streetbeat wasn't as ugly as the trickstar-2 :P :P :P :P
-
Looks like I will be selling my 2016 master for a beat then....
-
the haro master is a far nicer looking frame, why would you want get a streetbeat instead :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\
-
They going to make it into production Steve?
-
Yes Clint.
As long as the tests on the Prototypes are ok then expect to see them mid June.
I'll be having one (my names already down).....
Or as already said, buy a Haro. You could always get is signed too like everyman and his dog. :D
-

I will probably keep my master, as it is a great f&f. I am a massive Skyway fan and have a orange Ruffell tribute Beat, and a custom green and yellow Styler, hence I could see one of these in my collection.
-
Please don't tell me they opted for the cheap BB version and gone Euro on it?
No need for a coaster tab to be fitted either, as they are extinct.
Nice looking frame set though, just not my cup of tea :daumenhoch:
-
Yeah euro BB. I think the coaster tab was purely nostalgic.....even the 88 Beat didnt have one.
This was actually designed in the same office and on the same drawing board as the original TA and Beats, by the same engineer and designer Rein Stolz.
-
:) Looks OK that but I`d lose the coaster tab and bin the Euro BB shell for a mid.-it`s not a race frame. Are these longer than the originals?
-
Hey James, where you at the side of me the other day in a Black Navara (or similiar)?
-
That looks ACE that Steve and thanks for sharing it on here mate :daumenhoch:

Knew youd like it Rob.......will it tempt you?
-
Might do Steve, just might do :daumenhoch:

Good man. Did you know that yours was used for measurements for the new one? Theyd lost a lot of the original drawings and so needed an original 88 to copy from.? ;)
-
Yeah i remember you taking them mate, makes it that little bit more special :daumenhoch:
-
Don't mind the coaster tab. Bound to be some lads wanting to run these in old school clothes.
Not a massive skyway fan but if this feels like a new school but looks old school I could be persuaded.
Surely your contribution earns you a free one Rob ;)
-

Sure does ;)
-
Does looks nice. I would build with reproduction parts. :coolsmiley:
-
Steve, you need to persuade them to lose that Euro BB shell. I know they are cheaper etc etc, but the BB's are not around for the shell, and when you think you have found a decent one, they are actually crap. I am using a Gusset on my TA at the moment, all seems well, but i have used 'others', and they didn't last at all. The bearings are too small, especially for Freestyle, buddy.
Please persuade them to go with a Mid BB :daumenhoch:
-
Best thing to do is comment on the thread on the Skyway page as i know Reins watching the comments with interest. :daumenhoch:
-
Not sure how well the rear brake will work, On the pics the posts are not even there but the mounts are and seem to be right on that sharp bend.
Not my cup of tea though.
-
liking that very much steve ,thanks for putting pics up :4_17_5:
glad to see that its got a coaster tab-just to be different
will they be done in '88 colours?-love to get a red one
any idea on price mate?
how do i go about ordering one ?
-
I'm liking that, thanks for posting up Steve :daumenhoch:
-
So Rein was apparently always going to put a mid BB on it anyway!! So that ones sorted.
I reckon coaster tab will stay, I hope so. Gives it that old School look.
It will be paint over chrome like the 88's.
Aqua and chrome, black and chrome and red and chrome.
Remember this is still at prototype stage and changes to the frame are still possible.
As for price im not sure if they know yet, I suppose it depends on the final tweeks and then they can work out the costs.
Ed at planet will I'm sure have the first batch for sale but I'm guessing once the distributor over here (Coyote) has them then I guess they'll go the usual channel, Alan's etc.
Mid June is the target for release but we'll just have to see.
It's at least a year behind schedule.
-
Rear drop outs 14mm Steve ? Reckon I could fancy one of them
-
I do love a decent retro as long as it's properly newschool with good geometry and not just a copy of the 70's or 80's original, so this looks a really great project Steve. I am curious about how an AD rear caliper would sit though as not only do the lugs look too close to the bend but where would the cable pulling direction come from? They might be better mounting it on the lower rear stay like the late 80's version and use a modern low mount AD brake to still allow a small gearing to clear it?
I'm only asking as i've just set up my AD996 Hombre and they only work with bit of a frig on the cable direction to pull as the top rear stays are a low angle on most newschool frames.
Looks good though and will give a lot of fans a great riding bike i'm sure :daumenhoch:
-
I like the idea of it & it looks cool :daumenhoch: but I wonder if it will end up cracking/bending behind the top of the seatpost/platform junction like a lot of them did.
-
Yep 14mm rear drops 😏
Spen that's exactly what we said about putting the brake mounts on the lower stay. He had real problems designing onto the upper.
I think it would be better too....like I said it's just a prototype and nothing's set in stone. He is listening to the comments and criticisms.
-
was going to say it's mid bb and comment on the brake lugs aswell so that's my input sorted :LolLolLolLol:
chain stay has to be the best place for the brake, easy enough to raise or lower the stay to allow clearence for ns gearing
underneath causes it's own problems if your grinding/doing stalls, seen a few old ones with lugs bent or snapped off,
perhaps built in tensioners too ?
-

I like it,will they give the option of no lugs on the front forks though, like the Skyway Cruisers?
I can see the need for a v brake or u brake on the rear but not for the front.
Also there was rumblings of a 26 inch TA cruiser,is this still happening ?
-
Yep I believe the option with and without for the front.
26" have already gone through prototype and are in production. When I was out there in September they had some there but they weren't quite happy with them.
Keep an eye on Planet BMX for details, they are taking deposits.

Hi all
Did this ever get manufactured? Failing this does anyone know where I could get a NOS 85 from?
Cheers all
Stay safe
-
No, the project has now been shelved.
NOS 85's sometimes come up on the Skyway Appreciation site on Facebook.
