unfortunately the top of the snapped off years ago so his dad who worked at BOC in st'helens, got a bloke to weld it. but the guy was a total f0ckwhit  :Aresehole: and put a 30mm iron sleeve over the top and burned the 2 tubes either side when welding :idiot2: am trying to get him to re'chrome it but he thinks it'll cost to much. need help with that to  ;)

There are some really clever people on this site who could repair the seat tube and extend the bars back to their original size.  Those 280X bikes are really nice so it's worth doing IMO.   :daumenhoch:

Everything he said ^^^^ definitely worth investing in getting them repaired and if a rechrome is too much, maybe a candy powder coat finish as they came in colours bitd  :daumenhoch:

I think the Torker 280/280X (apart from the top tube length how can you tell the difference?) only came in chrome with the LP/LPX in white  :daumenhoch:

Nice find, looks in good nick, apart from the obvious, only in St. Helens  :LolLolLolLol:
Not sure of the difference between the 280 and 280X, I think one of them had a hole in the gusset, and one had a slot.
I know the Pro-X had no gusset, and a longer top tube.
Top frame either way.

Shaun

No the difference between 280 and 280X is the length asd Bob said earlier

if you spot a 280 or 280X with a circle instead of the oval slot in the gusset its a pre 83 ,,oval slots are  83 and  onward  :)

No  ::)  ;D

It can stil be a 280 or 280X being Oval gusseted ,
the difference is ONLY the length of the top tubes the 280X is an inch longer at 18.5  :)

Round gusset denotes 280 or 280X produced up to 1983  ;)

Said all this once  :knuppel2:  ::)
