Title: Front brakes
Post by: richiebozza on January 13, 2017, 11:54 PM
Aloha.

As rare as it is, I want to run front brakes, but of course most new school forks don't have lugs for brakes, however some have pre-drilled holes for calipers...but are there actually any modern caliper brakes that do a decent job?

Cheers!
Rich

You could always try using a u-brake adapter, eg http://porkchopbmx.com/dia-compe-br-990-boomerang-bmx-u-brake-adapter-plate-black/

I was going to do that, but in the end was lucky to snag some Cromo lugged forks for about 7 quid a few years back

Get some on there, fronts rule!  :daumenhoch:
There's plenty of forks with 990's out there. Odyssey, Colony, Alone, Haro, Bone Deth & S&M for starters! Could also get some welded on or there's still a lot of more mid school 990 sets about if you don't mind a bit more weight  :daumenhoch:

Hi Griff!
Do you know how much less effective the u plate adapters are compared to lugged forks?

Really appreciate the first offer Gary, but I'm afraid that I've gone down the Colony Guardian route!
