just started the light restoration at the cost of a whole £1 ... 1 can of coke ,1 small bundle 00 wire wool
its taken about 1 1/2 hrs just rear part and forks, even refurbed the cheap copy mx again all lightly.
i may upgrade some bits but it did come this way.

Post by: harris on August 05, 2012, 07:43 PM
i would say   ;D   this is actually the hardest build ive had in.
usually its easy straight to paint or chrome then new bits
but this isnt getting all that so having to raine it in this time.
if the chrome doesnt come up well then it may get chromed under instruction.

guys just thinking on tyres,do i go new type comps amber wall or a used old clean set, kinda on a budget so cant go mad
but it ill be ridden so cant be cracked to death.
Title: Re: a tad in need of restoration NATIONAL PRO
Post by: Jaypeg on August 06, 2012, 08:35 PM
Personally i would try and get an old set to go with the rest of the bike... im restoring a f+f myself which has had better days and im putting new comp 3's on purely because ive had them for a while and it makes sense to use them but i know from an aesthetic point of view old ones would be better...havent helped at all have i  :LolLolLolLol:
Title: Re: a tad in need of restoration NATIONAL PRO
Post by: harris on August 06, 2012, 08:38 PM
well i am on the fence on these,if it was mine i would get used old type but this guy wont be bothered
will see what comes up

all ears ian   :daumenhoch:
Title: Re: a tad in need of restoration NATIONAL PRO
Post by: midschooljon on August 06, 2012, 09:40 PM
If its a rider Id go new reissue comp 3's. The authenticity of the old tyres is great, but I just find older tyres dont handle riding tyre pressures very well at all. So if its going to get ridden about having a fresh set on the bike that can hold decent pressure and seat well on the bead makes a big difference.

Post by: Glynnyboy on August 07, 2012, 12:14 AM
By the time he's ridden over field or track on a wet day the tires would fit right in anyway even if they were new initially.
At least they would be safe too.

Post by: harris on August 07, 2012, 04:53 PM
yes matt as i have no idea yet if this will do,he did want it chromed as he said he couldnt see any way on this planet that i would be able
to tidy it up.
