.. or is it just oven pride?
was thinking of stripping the red off my flight crank flush bolt washers and got some mr muscle oven cleaner left over in cupboard (got some lidl brand too come to think of it)
while I'm on might as well ask if anyone has any chrome spindle bolts that would fit twin pinchers, as the black std ones are the only thing I'm not that happy about
cheers

pretty sure its just oven pride Griff
think long and hard before you do it ... no regrets :)
wear marigolds ... and heels :bondage:
-
blimey Ed you were up early
got the gloves but not the heels, no doubt diggler will be along in a bit with one of his 'speciallist' links
-
Duraglit removes anodising ok but its fiddly to get into the nooks and crannies
-
Go with what you know - oven pride works and so is most likely the best for the job - no need to waste money if the other stuff don't work
gloves ! yes but heels not needed instead you can use tights and hot pants - but you must run around the street after you have finished the job shouting "i'm a pretty little girl and you can smack my bum"
happy to help ;)
cheers B

thanks B as always for your sage advice
only asked about mr muscle as I already have some of it and buying a whole box of oven pride seemed a bit like overkill for 2 washers
might try it and see what happens, unless the spindle bolt fairy visits in the meantime

FFS tight wad... I'll post you some fookin oven pride in a little pot... 8)

It will work, it's just not as quick as it is a weaker solution.
I did my old arayas with it, took off most of the black, but not all. OP is the king11

can you just use a bit of oven pride in one go then? thought I'd have to use it all in one go.... :-[ ::)
will probably just get some of that then, don't want Ed posting me strange white powder in the mail ;D
need to get back onto ebay and find some wheels, will check in later
-
just get a little bottle of caustic from b&q for a couple of quid ,,,, you will only need a pinch of the stuff ,,,,and then theres the rest for other jobs :daumenhoch:
-
ok cheers all - gonna check the ano thread and see how to do this, don't want to dissolve the washers :D
cheers

Just remember you can always add - so start off with 1/3 mug of Caustic to a gallon (8 pints) of water. Stir it in slowly, add what you wanna strip (keep it off the base of the container you're stripping in - I use old arcade stick blanks to keep rims etc off the base). After 10 mins remove the item, and see if the anno will rub off - if not pop it back in for another few mins. If that doesn't work, take out the part, add more Caustic and pop it back in.
Two other important things - DO NOT do this in an area that isn't well ventilated (as the reaction creates nasty gas) and wear gloves :daumenhoch:
-
and tights + hot pants then go out in the street part - most important that bit is ;)
