Title: stuck renthal post
Post by: griff on June 14, 2012, 11:54 PM
evening all

at the last MK I picked up a silverfox F&F and it got built up on the spot
some of you may remember the fun we had trying to free the renthal post (I have nicknamed it excalibur)
many tried and failed, not even dordy's mighty biceps could shift the fooker. we did try a bit of heat too but I didn't want to risk blueing the chrome

now I know that there are things that can be done with caustic soda, but with a duck nesting in the yard I don't want to risk poisoning it (plus I'm a lazy get and don't want to have to strip out the BB unless I have to)

what are my options for getting the thing out cleanly so I can finally put another post in? can it be drilled out?

if there's anyone local to me that has the necessary gear am happy to pay in beer tokens (or maybe nr walsall as am up there now & again)
not in any rush but would like to get it sorted for MK12!

on the national freestyler i chopped a slit either side with the angle grinder and shoved a flat file through and twisted and lubed with force gradually and they were corroded together badly ¬!!

doh!

of course - will try Steve in case he can help next time I'm in walsall
we could share a bag of orange chips

wasn't going to bother with local firms round here tbh, last time got ripped off by some guy when I needed my skyway axles trimming down

yes mate, it rose like a phoenix from the ashes on sunday morning - so I took it back home
the chrome is showing some signs of wear, but I think it should polish up OK with a bit of Peek
the saddle I would now describe as 'used rider' condition, what with it being reduced to a molecular level by Spen's industrial-strength coal fire

got a duck nesting in our yard - she's sitting on 12 eggs which will be hatching soon so probably not the best time to be getting evil chemicals out
and I can't be arsed to take the F&F apart and plug up holes in the BB after hootski set it all up perfect, well not if steve the bodger king can help me anyway

and I love orange chips  :smitten:

Will a stem fit in it? You could then tightn that and fit the bars and twist it out... Just a thought !

Fook me that was stuck Griff - we tried everything to shift it. Did I have my vice with me as we could try and free it at a Boardroom meet if I bring it down bud.

Failing that it's off tp Uncle Steve's as I only drill fibreglass ones out which I think Rich's picture fails to note...... ;-D

Thought I'd give this a bump as MK is round the corner and I didn't manage to get up to see uncle Steve  :(
If anyone is feeling ambitious feel free to have a go at it

Won't be able to offer orange chips as payment though, will have to be beer or cuddles instead
