Finally............
Big thanks to Scott for selling them to me :LolLolLolLol:
May not look much different from the far more readily available motomag 2's to the non mongoose man, but trust me these are a bitch to find in good condition !
Main structural difference is the lack of an inner support lip that ran round the rim on the motomag 2 to strengthen the point were the webbing and spokes meet the rim. The lack of that support means that often when you find motomag 1's the webbing is snapped / cracked or pieces missing.
Anyways, here's my puppies.........

Simi Motomags 8) flash fecker :coolsmiley:
II's not good enough ::) :yahoo_silent: :LolLolLolLol:
Anyway of dating exact year of manufacture John ?,,,, circa '76/77 ish
-
No later than 76 I'd say Chris since in 76 they moved to chatsworth and the run of motomag 1's from the chatsworth days are marked chatsworth not simi ;) And then the motomag 2's came out late 77/ early 78 :daumenhoch:
They were originally produced from 1974 before mongoose ever even made a frame (first frames were late 75) so these wheels I have here were made some time between 1974 and early 1976 :)
:daumenhoch:

76 ain't a bad year for you JP :coolsmiley:

What are they going on?
Got a couple of rare geese they could work with Bob.
Either my 76 extra gusset goose or my 77 Racer-X :-\
Nice :daumenhoch: how much are a set of motomag 2's worth? And when did they stop making them?
Motomag 1's 1974 - 77
Motomag 2's Late77 - Early 83
Price for a set of motomag 2's in good condition £150+ and motomag 1's £250+ but both of those prices could be a lot higher depending on condition and bidders !
Problem is most of them are in the states and shipping is epic cos of the weight !
I was very lucky to find a set of 1's in th UK !
How big a front sprocket are you doing to use with a 19t on the rear.
Not too worried about the gear ratio Brett seen a few 70's survivor bikes with low gear ratios :-\
