Nice new paintjob, Phil.
I like the stickers up near the head tube, but when you come back racing you'll have to use one of those gay side plates and your stickers will get covered up/scuffed.

What dya mean? They're all good colours :knuppel2:
Wait til you see my new colour. It's hideous :D
-
I did think it sounded a little harsh mike, just love bright bikes that chrome/silver looks nice with, the blue for example and the darker red just didn't catch my eye like some of the other ones. Any hints to the next colour? Bright green like the Orange MTB's ? That would stand out!!
-
No offence taken, Dave. I was just messing with ya ;)
New cruisers will be pearl black (black with gold/metallicy flecks) and translucent red (same as the MX20R frames).
Might do some brighter coloured frames in future as orange is my most popular MTB frame colour, and Kawasaki green has been selling well on my Alpine frames.

One of the bikes I will be riding in 2010. The new Sharp Pro XL. Frame is ox platinum made in the USA by Standard. I have weighed the frame and it is under 3.9lbs. Not bad for an XL cromo race frame. Sharp cromo forks, bars, chainring, stem. THE seat, Revell seatpost, Stolen seatclamp & headset, Shimano DXR cranks, Chris King bottom bracket, Crupi Pro Square pedals, ACS chain, Lizard Skins grips, DXR brakes, Kenda Small Block 8 tyres, Odyssey hubs, Alienation Deviant/Runaway rims.
Sharp frames are available in any 20" or 24" size, and when I say ANY size I mean it. The frames can be made in custom sizes :4_17_5: I will have this example at Manchester for the North Regional next month, and I will also have Sharp products at the Nationals (offering support to our Sharp rider in Elite), along with ONE goodies too :)

Really well. So much more confidence with the extra length from my Intense. With the geo on it, the front end feels really lightweight even though it did have the same parts on (wheels and forks)
Short back end too which I have noticed over Intense too. Photos don't really do it justice really which is a shame.....
Similar to Dialled's, but this is only 24" race bike in UK currently I believe. Predistribution sold one other to some chap in London who doesn't race.
So pleased I have got it, though issue withParcelforce dropping it in shipping, and still waiting for money back to get another frame. It is nice to be on a bike that nobody else has, as far as I've seen...

Cool, I didn't know they were available in the UK. Good price for a US made frame too :daumenhoch:

Really good Mark, runs very smooth and true, I was getting sick of the creaking coming off my DXR cranks ::)
cool, I fancy some at some point, chainline ok on them?

Yes Mark, but I have got the new splined spider which is offset especially for the external bb, it is really nice though, I can`t find any tight or loose spots in the chain at all :daumenhoch:
-
Bill, where did you get the spider from?
I've got the new profile external BB on mine, the chainline is ok on mine without the spider because on my Sun Ringle rear hub you can run the cog the other way round so that it is further away from the hub and it lines up OK. Still wouldn't mind on of those spiders though.
Here's a pic of my 20" :)

Erm, Profile :LolLolLolLol:

I bought a couple from JR`s in the states, I don`t think Profile Europe have imported any yet :(
-
I got mine from Profile Europe just before the Brits. Mine is polished, not sure on the coloured ones though. :daumenhoch:
I see you are running them like mine Bill with the sprocket bolt boss on the right arm. Pity they are only bringing the no boss ones in, in black.

Time for my bike now.
2011 FA Stay Strong 20".
Mix of old and new parts followed up by a deep clean, vigorous waxing session and a painstaking build.
Not sure what it weighs. It's on my to do list.
As always, Stodgy was my supplier and kitted out what didn't come from Marco.

:) That Speed is real nice Dan:) Design is a real improvement over the Podium/Magna..
BB issue has put me off buying a Standard :daumenhoch:
-
The technology definately works on the Speed, it's super stiff, and I'm a larger fella; So I learned my lesson after twisting the 3.2lb 125r....I wish It looked cooler though, still rolling with some Magna graphics in my opinion!
-
What are Magna graphics?

Magna is a really cheap nasty BMX sold in the UK but it does resemble an Intense Podium :daumenhoch:

think the forks cost me less than £80 inc shipping the seat cost me £ 20 incl shipping im sure the seat would cost more over here but i havent seen anywhere selling them yet
the forks do come up on ebay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Supercross-Pro-SLT-Fork-20-Gloss-Black-/400263768346?pt=Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d3194691a :daumenhoch:

Umpteenth revision of the battered Felt cruiser I got just over 2 years ago. Only the OG frame, stem and seatclamp remain. I'm on my 2nd set of wheels, 3rd set of forks, 3rd front sprocket and about 5th chain :-[ . If you look closely you can see all the replaced spoke nips (silver instead of gold) and a replaced spoke (silver instead of black). Most of the new spokes are black.

This is my 2011 Haro Pro XL Plus complete, which I got late summer/early autumn last year. Perfect for a latecomer/beginner like me. Had a few goes round the Chandlers Ford freespace track ibn Eastleigh/Southampton and had my first beginners sesh down at Gosport club. Hope to get cracking again this year and get above 2mph... :LolLolLolLol:

Nice, looks mean!
On average how much would a decent custom build cost?

about £1,000 if its all new , but you could spend twice that for a top build
( can pick up a good used one for £500 on BMX TALK )

Getting there, Proper Microlight stem, Sinz 2-piece steel cranks (hollow axle), Fun Souljam pedals. I've left the Holy Roller tyres on there anticipating the usual rain and mud at Coppull :2funny:

Lovely Anthony, just needs a chain and some BMX pedals. Are you riding it at the club champs? I might ride 20" if I can get my chain to stay on long enough :LolLolLolLol:
-
Ha. Fellas . I'll tell you how it is with me and spds. In 1992 I was kind of bullied by the bike shop I frequented to buy a set of spuds for XC mountain biking. I was young and impressionable then :)
Since then I've always ridden in spds.
The first time I rode a Bmx in anger was almost 4 years ago. I sucked big style then and I suck slightly less now. Obviously racing the old school series I've worn flats and they do nothing but hinder my riding. It's not the pedals fault but I just can't ever get my feet in the correct position on them. I find myself shuffling through every race trying to get comfy.
Over 20 years on spds it's not about power or fashion. It's just about being comfy! :D
-
mean anth :daumenhoch: great choice of frame :daumenhoch:

Have just sat down with a cuppa to have a browse through the whole of this thread. The tea's gone cold but there was 7 years worth of bikes to look at! Really interesting to see the vast array of rides out there, and how everyone's constantly chopping and changing, replacing and upgrading, just like we all did bitd. :daumenhoch:
-
Well seeing as you bumped it, might aswell add in one of the current race bikes.
Hoping it works, and sorry about the poor quality pic.
have a fair few padsets that get used or are going to be used.

Good old Ripper
For sale :daumenhoch:
-
Nice-looking bike that! Needs to go in the Museum section! Likewise the Curtis before it :daumenhoch:
-
its a bit too new for the museum section though haha.
might have to take a few pics over the upcoming week of racing with the changes from each event (enjoy trying to upset the commentators, like the event where it was a different jersey colour each moto for a giggle)
That SE looks very nice, really do like the clean design of it. Just a simple, clean cut BMX image.
When the cruiser is back up and running (getting a part machined) will have to take a few pics.
especially seeing it will be retired from main racing duties with another frame almost on its way that will create a matching pair
-
its a bit too new for the museum section though haha.
Don't worry about that! Today's bikes will be tomorrow's museum pieces, figuratively-speaking, so you may as well get it in there now! :daumenhoch: Actually, whilst I'm thinking about it, I noticed that you're using a padset on yours. I don't see them being used nowadays - is it no longer a requirement and therefore just personal preference?
That SE looks very nice, really do like the clean design of it. Just a simple, clean cut BMX image.
Agreed!!
...with another frame almost on its way that will create a matching pair
Need to know more about this!! :coolsmiley:
-
I just run a padset for giggles. its not a requirement anymore, but I find it a bit of fun and a bit different.
long term plan is to try to have enough of them to have a different one each event for the year.
an upcoming event is 6 races over 9 days (and a charity event in the middle to make it 7), I have 6 different padsets at the moment and more than 6 jerseys, so plan on changing it up to try to mess with the commentators (who mind you, dish it out in return :daumenhoch: ) as, especially after Christmas so many people have new gear, so they don't know who is who yet.
I should explain, I enjoy trying to bring back an older school look to the bike or some of the riding styles that you don't see as often now.
As for the new frame. all the parts are sitting there, only pinching the wheels off the current cruiser, and then lets just say, it'll almost be a matching pair of Reynolds goodness
-
Seeing as though it's now actually seen some race action, here's my addition to the thread - a 2011 Crupi Pro XL custom build - made in the USA, bought in Hong Kong, and raced by a Brit in Japan! :daumenhoch:

I absolutely love that bike. Weighs about the same as a basket of soup, and absolutely rips. Every one should have a modern race machine TBH. You don't know what you are missing. Bloody great way to get fit too !
This thing is no joke. It absolutely flies. To the point where I scared myself a couple of times lol.

Amazingly this is the first Standard I've owned and I've had a LOT of bikes lol

How are you getting on with the OS20 sizing?
-
Only ridden it once but it feels amazing

I'd definitely like to have a go on a OS20 bike one day.
In the meantime, I present to you my latest race bike project. It's one of those Marmite frames I know but the opportunity unexpectedly came my way and I couldn't resist! If it rides as badly on the track as some people say, then I should be able to move it on quite easily but I must admit to loving the look of it. But then I love Marmite! :daumenhoch:
