Has anyone given any thought to building a new Old School frame.
Just imagine a Frame that was super strong and had modern dimensions but used a 1" headset and a caliper brake.
I know this will put the cat amoungst the pidgeons but it's an interesting idea.

i'm getting n exact replica of my pink Titan made in N/S tubing :daumenhoch:
Years ago i had a Race Inc replica made by Gillott, that was v nice n uber strong :daumenhoch:

old skool s&m is bullet proof so ive heard
-
kappa style zippy

It would be cool if Dialled Bikes could make an old School frame and forks. Ideally the same geometry as my Robinson Pro XL's
-
Is that a hint to Mike :LolLolLolLol:
TBH for him it's prob unworkeable as everyone has preferred geometry, i'd want my Titan, u your Robinson, Ratty would want Redline etc etc etc,

:LolLolLolLol:
No not really but if you think how the old school race scene has really taken off this year and if you factor into the equation that the north, the midlands and wales don't really have an established old school scene like ours yet then that's a lot of potential out there.
Really just thinking out loud. ;)

What I dont understand is why you would want to?
Old school is riding 20+ year old bikes,
the boundaries were pushed this year with a couple of bikes that really nudged the limits. If frames were made with new school geo to look like OS bikes it would defeat the whole idea of what we do, we might as well pack up now and go and buy new school bikes.

True, the only reason behind a replica Titan is that if i race her much more she will break and i'd be heartbroken :(

I like the idea of OS repros (ala Azusa/JMC and the Kappa Hutches and Rippers) which have modern geometry and strength, but I think making a frame which was new school strength but with OS geometry, 1" shafted and caliper brakes would be a bit odd as it might be "OS Legal" but probably not in the spirit of the OS race series.
I love looking at the OS bikes, but from a ride perspective, I think NS bikes handle much better and feel more stable.

Maybe I didn't really explain it properly. :LolLolLolLol:
I'd like a new school frame with a 1" headset and caliper brake but I want the geometry to be either new school or at the very least the same as my Robinson Pro XL which is almost the same as a new school anyway.

why?

Zippy mate you definitely need to get out more ......or youve got too much time on your hands........ :uglystupid2: :uglystupid2: :uglystupid2: :coolsmiley:

hehe, change the rules next year Tony. Bikes made before 1986 only >:D
-
Or no yellow bikes allowed with smurfs riding them >:D
-
But that would just be a newschool bike with the brake mounts cut off and shims in the head tube... not old school at all and very unfair.
I know a lot of the OS racers are buying/racing late 80s and 90s frames because they are longer and stiffer... and cheaper, and for me, this is pushing it a bit, but still within the rules set out by Alans, so that's where it should end. No 'wolf in sheeps clothing please'
...and don't even think about clipping in ;D
As for worrying about breaking your old stead... just race something else ;)
from what I've read, Johny Chopper will build whatever you want...
What Bob said...
What Ratty said...

Ok It was just an idea.
I'll stick to my Robinson.
