I guess the Museum or Rewind could be the next stop ;D

Just clocked that the skywaym4n is on the rider list for the London ride, this could be interesting if he shows up!! :LolLolLolLol:

To be fair Guy (Gmac) has obviously (for whatever reason) lost the love for the hobby - his decision and I respect him for that, we all have our different circumstances and he believes the time has come to part with his collection. :)
From previous threads, he clearly seems like a top bloke, i've no reason to think otherwise, I am a bit puzzled though as to why he's offered Stephane the job of shifting his stuff. I'm guessing Guy has had hold of this stuff for a while and i've no doubt that he paid a lot less for it than it's worth now, let's face it, things have shot up recently. :(
What I am a little fooked off over is that Stephane is rocking up on this forum with his random, bizarre prices. He is so clearly trying to earn himself a nice little (huge) wedge, and at the same time take the p!ss out of us Radsters. >:D
I'm not minted, I build and buy what I can afford, but even if i'd got 6 numbers in the lotto, I certainly wouldn't buy any of this stuff and line the pockets of this sh!tehouse bleeder.

Well it certainly looks like he is making up prices, and adding on to what Guy asks for. He gets touchy though if you quiz him so be nice dudes. :D :D :D

I don't know skywayman and I don't know guy but for ffs marking prices up like this and selling in this manner is just pushing the hobby further and further away from most folks reach. It's a piss take so I hope people don't entertain these sales and buy naff all and maybe the items may be offered at a reasonable price. >:(

Herein lies the problem. There's not much moral integrity and a lot of hypocrisy on here at times from some people. I've seen people slag off others to no end......until they list something they want to buy, when it returns to 'mate' status.
Desperation is a sad thing to behold

Gotta say I've felt like radman all week (no not Lee and I don't want to feel him :crazy2: ) but so many people have PM'd me and said 'get ready for the 'hi mate' and 'I live you comments'. :LolLolLolLol:
Seriously though, although I've made profit on what I've been luckily enough to get hold of, my main priority was to sell fairly, honestly and at a price that people are comfortable with and to members here and on my own forum. I think if you want more money and maximum gain then Ebay is the way.
I can't remember in such a small space of time when I've read so much abuse on here in Sales threads, which is a shame really and I'm sure much of it comes from the demand for high prices and the rarity of original parts.
Let's hope it settles down quickly and doesn't spill over or hang around by the time MK arrives. :daumenhoch:

you were fine with me Mark, that first deal we did years ago was cracking and very fairly priced...
I think most of us try to be Marty. :daumenhoch:
At the end of the day, I don't give a toss what people say about me behind my back as long as their courteous in PM conversation and to my face. People are often a different kettle of fish when you're one on one with them in the real world and although some of the comments in skywaym4n's sales had me falling off my seat, some I felt were bang out of order. I thought most of us here were meant to be mature and pretty responsible but the heat of the situation seemed to raise the temperatures on keyboards. ;)
That said, it's been an entertaining few days on EastRadSters. :daumenhoch:

Joking, obviously. I don't think the rear flange is a Rad Kap BTW. It looks like a steel flange from a Skyway (Suntour) coaster hub, hence the rust. The front interests me more as there are no close ups of it - I'm pretty sure that is also a placcy hubbed rear Tuff which has had the gubbins chopped out of it so the flanges are attached to fresh air.
Death traps IMO. :police:

calm down stu - no need to get medieval on his ass (now that would be a site to behold)
trying (very hard) to see things from skywaymaaan's point of view, I think that maybe he just didn't really know that much about what he was selling and hence some of the prices were way off e.g. asking what a bubblefont was :D
but where he fooked up though was being arsey with his potential client base on here - makes me wonder why the guy who owned the stuff didn't just ebay it or get someone more savvy to do it for him...
look at dannyd's finds for example - he finds some stuff cheap, keeps some stuff for himself and even went as far as to say how much he paid
don't see anyone on here taking the piss on his sale threads as he comes across genuine (he even despatched a GT post to me before I'd had time to pay for it!)
-
lol this has been interesting viewing. :LolLolLolLol:
He has items for sale, he puts them up for what he wants for them and you decide to buy them or not. Simple as that.
Ok its fair enough to try and let him know market values but who determines those. this hobby is getting ridiculous in terms of costing as people are coming into it now thinking they have tapped into a goldmine. Unfortunately newbies will think these are the going prices and pay them, which in turn will push the other values up. Hopefully it will make us realise how stupid some prices are getting and bring them back down to their real values. Also, people are finding less disposable income to spend on lifes luxuries which will also help to lower prices (we can only hope).
-
There is is supply and demand, and then there is out and out greed.

Nothing to see here bud ( I hope) ;D
-
from my point of view, my prices hav'nt changed in 7 + years but i've noticed new customers
sending me frames to paint that are a pile of shite and thinking there going to make a killing ,
my latest one, chrome frame turns up rusty as fook so has to be dechromed at £40 then my charge
£50 so he's now £90 out of pocket and the frame is worth no more than £50 tops ;D
just greed and good luck when he tries to sell it :daumenhoch:
-
Although a large part of the threads over the last couple of days have been some of the most funniest I've ever read on here. I do think it has high lighted the high price problem and people that are only in it to inflate prices and make a quick buck. On a good point the moderators are getting to see members feelings on the issue. This can surely only be good for the genuine users. The rip off merchants will soon learn that they are wasting their time trying to sell on here. :daumenhoch:
And I think the actions by the moderators were backed by the users. :police: :4_17_5:
-
thank you :daumenhoch:
-
Here, here. :daumenhoch:
Sold my stem on here last month only to have some greedy fecker stick it on the bay the very day it landed at his house. It sold for 40 quid more than he paid.
Had bartered me down too on a pm. :knuppel2:
Glad to see this kind of thing will no longer be tolerated on the site.
Well done mods.
Steve

I think it would be a good opertunity to add this to the selling rules. Not sure how it will work. But I'm sure we could all debate over a thread on it. And throw some ideas into the pot for the mods to dwell over. Remember several ideas are better than one.
Im thinking that if we join the site as a site supporter so we can buy and sell. We should complete a registration where we have to fill in lots of details. So the mods can pass on information if required on a sour deal. Like eBay does. The thing is if your a genuine member of this site you will have no problem showing this info. Where as the scammers will be less interested. What info you ask for is another debate. :daumenhoch:
-
have to say its good to see :daumenhoch: i live by the idea of treat people how you would like to be treated by them,i always try to sell at the price i paid for it...if i can remember :LolLolLolLol:
-
I dont think you need to change anything, the majority of sales on here go as they should, when something dodgy happens it's pretty clear to everyone, prices are what they are if dont agree dont buy
-

My sentiments entirely although some disagree for whatever reason :-\ I receive email confirmations of all my paypal transactions which are then stored on my PC. Excellent reference for selling items that I don't have use for :daumenhoch:

maybe get rid of the sale section

Unfortunately bro, whenever there is a large stack of items up for sale, it becomes like a Shark frenzy which in turn, just gets out hand, as we have seen in the last 2 days ::)

im refering more to the Changa sale as being dodgy, I didnt really agree with the way Skywaym4n got slated, just dont buy the stuff he'll soon get the message

I have to say the database of site supporters contact details etc held by us isn't a bad suggestion!
I think you need to looking at individuals rights such as data and identity protection. Not sure if your site is secure enough for such a database or within the boundaries of the law to hold such a database.
-
Rollin I wasn't saying things should be changed.
All I think is there should be advise in the rules to let sellers know that unreasonable high price threads won't be tolerated. Stating that if it appears your for sale thread has extremely high prices and this has been pointed out to you by several members. Then you need to think about lowering your prices. Or asking if you are out on the price. If this doesn't happen then state that there is a good chance your for sale thread might be pulled.
The other thing I was saying is. A couple of members recently have sold stuff on here to other members for mates rates only to find it put up straight away on eBay or the museum. I think this needs to be looked into as I personally think this shouldn't be tolerated. Now I know this is hard. But if it is in the rules and a ban for an offender is what you get. It stops it happening to other rad members.
The thing is I commend you guys that want to post up your stuff for sale for the price you bought it or a good price for today. But surely writing that in these threads is inviting these rip off newbies to turn you over for a quick profit.
I hope you see where I'm coming from. :daumenhoch:
-
fair comment Stu, the things that have happened in the past month have highlighted there is a growing problem, good luck in trying to restore order Mods
-
Ok here is a suggestion. You cannot access the for sale threads until your a site supporter. Just as it is now. But then you are not permitted to buy or sell anything until you have at least 2 stars. That way if you want anything you have to get a member with 2 stars or more to buy it for you. Letting the seller know what he is doing. The same if you want to sell something. Then if the items are found to be sold on within weeks for a big profit. Then both people will be in trouble and may end up with a ban or a suspension.
The thing is not all newbies are trouble and up for making a quick buck. Most are very interested in the site and old school bmx and have been introduced by a current rad member. So if they want something then it's up to there mate to honour the sale. As its one thing saying I know him he's genuine. And another doing his business whilst he earns his stars. The genuine interested newbies will stick it out. The rip off merchants will have realise their on a hiding to nothing. :daumenhoch:
-
dunno about other members but if i have stuff for sale on here i wont sell it to non
site supporters.dont care if they dib first, its only a tenner on here so fcuk em.
-
I think selling stuff to non site supporters shouldn't be allowed. If you do and it goes sour. Then fool on you. :daumenhoch:
-
is there a way to stop non site supporters even veiwing the forsale section?
-
Yeah non site supporters can't view the for sale threads. But that doesn't stop them asking for stuff they need or advise on price of stuff they have, in other threads. :daumenhoch:
You normally find a thread that has a few pics with the saying what is this and what it's worth is gonna turn into a glorified for sale thread. Especially if the stuff is rare. The newbie then fooks off with his money never to be seen again. Having not paid any money into the rad kitty. Basically just using the site for profit. :(
-
yeah certain person on here kept pm ing me and well he knows who he is anyway :wtf: he was non supporter he kept threating me ;D ;D ;D :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: to
-
yeah they say can i dibb for mate then turn out to be meesers :wtf:
-
For sale section works just fine.
If everyone Uses their common sense, there are rarely problems in my opinion.
-
Agreed, works fine most of the time :daumenhoch:
-
It works fine in itself, it's people that fcuk it up.
-
The majority of the time Sales go fine but I think there has to be a line drawn how people comment towards prices they do not agree with. It's very easy to get carried away and embroiled with other member grievances but I appreciate that some of the warnings can also deter the unsuspecting or newer members (we've all been there) and there in nothing wrong with looking out for people. I don't think that blocking access to the For Sale section is the answer for people who are not 'Site Supporters', because this will restrict the sellers advertisement and right for all to see what he has for sale and might have a detrimental effect.
This place has a history of barking in sale threads if people feel a member is stepping over the mark 'but this can also be a personal perception and not always appreciated', and usually Moderators have allowed the discussions to continue to a point of taking action, I think that's good that it continues that way. If something is removed too hastily, we lose the opportunity to see those lines members take offence to (unless of course the language and personal abuse requires immediate action).
I still think any sales comes down to two simple things, courtesy and good communication coupled with prices that are in reach of us all, wherever possible. :daumenhoch:
-
I agree that the for sale section works perfectly for 99% of members.
But when someone blatantly comes on here just to buy things cheaply and stick the the items straight on ebay to make profit, for their own greedy benifit,
then this needs, I believe, highlighting and the member dealing with.
Why should people like this dib stuff, take it out of the circle and make a profit?
For those who don't agree, what about this scenario:
You are looking for a specific part and you have been for months, you log on one day to see the elusive part in the for sale section only to notice it has been dibbed by someone else.
The very next week you are still trawling around for the part when, hey presto, you see one on ebay.........only to realise it's the same one that was on RAD.....for way more. :2gunsfiring_v1:
You either buy it at an inflated price or leave it well alone..but this is gonna pee you off isnt it?
And when you check his ebay feedback and his past posts you realise he is a 'serial dibber'.............. :knuppel2:
Not fair is it? This is why I highlighted the guy who bought and sold the stem off me and made a tidy profit. He was doing it to us all. :-\
Just my thoughts anyway. Maybe when you've had it done to you then you'd realise how annoyed you would be.
Steve

It's a forum, on a forum there are 2 options, comments on, comments off. Policing what is said is impossible because it's opinion against opinion and who is right? Nobody? When idiots get weeded out, it's by majority dissaproval.
We like to talk about it, we like to talk about the talking about it. Everybody has a comment or solution but there is no solution and there will always be comments. Why people believe that there should be some happy happy, never a crossed word, back slapping matey matey utopia is beyond me. Why should this place be any different than offline.
When you stick out above the crowd, you catch more wind. Live with it or climb back down.

just feel ive got to say something here guys, re skyway mans thread that got pulled. i hold my hands up and apologies if i upset people with my "spat" i did step over the mark maybe . ..... as some have said his prices were high and thats his choice if you dont like then simply dont buy and I AGREE WITH THAT. but if you was on line and reading the way the thread was going . some of his pics were misleading , and when questioned about them he got a bit agressive himself. but the final straw for me was when he posted upa pic of sum guy he had "modified" and got personal towards him. at that point his sale thread went from being a "chancers get rid of stuff at silly prices "to a lets get personal and agressive and lets cause trouble. that just wasnt on in my opinion ,so rightfully or wrongfully i gave him a little of bit of his own medicine with sum of the cuff coment. which he didnt like then decided to go of line sulking. sum may have found what i said "wrong and a little to much " sum may have scean the funny side..... i certainly didnt mean to upset other members of rad :daumenhoch: i did recieve a few pms that night none of them negative . anyway enough said

That shit he posted about lee madz was out of order, and just showed him up a bit more.
He's gone, good riddance, That's my opinion and we've all got one.
I don't think anyone has any real regrets about what happened, as no matter what kind of guy he really is, he was fully blown taking the piss on here, so he was removed from being on here.
Good luck to everyone is where I'm at.Treat people how you expect to be treated yourself.
What's done is done.

just read all of this thread and thought that rad was free speech, free acting site, ive no connection to the guy selling the stuff or want or bought any of it but i was under the impression that if someone put something up for sale its his/her choice on price/ description if you read the posts in the thread its as though he got torn a new ass hole cause everyone didnt agree with his prices, surely if no one commented, his prices would have come down to a more reasonable level by proxy, bottom line is does anyone one on rad have any idea what things are worth in this day and age, especially something someone really wants, should there be a rough rad guide on old school bmx parts as a sticky in the for sale section, just a thought from another point of view

Bloody kids bicycles 30 years on :10_2_12: :LolLolLolLol:

There is more to the story than meets the eye..
History, bad blood, comments on another forum.
It wasn't just about the prices. They were just the catalyst.
Example. The 450 monkey bars are now 250 quid on eBay (or best offer)
Reality has bitten.

The over inflated prices was just the tip of the iceberg and further circumstances led to this ban, which to be honest, I don't need to share, as some of it has been told.
However in the interest and protection of Rad members and their dosh, the chap was removed from the site :police:
He was given a chance after a warning in 2011, however chose to ignore it !

And this chap wanted you to pay £450 for these ..........................

£550 for this

and the prospect of you ever receiving them........................................................
I'll say no more !
Like I said , your protection.
Make your own mind up

the guy was banned from BW and nearly RB - just as i left (to which i was a mod on there)
he then followed me around on here and started up shite, along with another member who was banned on different sites and told to behave his ways
the word PARASITE and COOKCOO spring to mind
he got out of depth on what he was selling and then bad mouthed members when pointing out things - not the best way the win friends and influence people
i think threads like this show the people who care about BMX and not just the profit to be made - we may not all agree the way it went or what has been said - but it does show a passion on here to keep it good for the members who care about BMX
