I thought that Jerry should get his own thread. Anyone got any more pics?
These were taken at the old ramp in Oxford. The "Vert" ramp was under 8ft and under vert.

BTW when we were talking to Mat Hoffman at the Masters, Pete talked about Jerry and Hoffman said that he was one of his favourite riders...enough said really.
-
I love the part in one of the Hoffman Videos where its showing footage from the County fair shows. Jerry did some of them for a while and there is a shot of some jump box and vert riding.
ou can just hear over the mic "Jerrrrrrrry Gallllllley!". Its so good.
-
a memory from leigh-on -sea jerry was riding the spin/midi ramp over on the far right
we was on the middle section he did a 6 ft transfer of the corner into it mate it was mental.

Yeah, Jerry was one of the Sprocket Jockey's...the saviours of freestyle! :)

jerry galley pure rocks! :4_17_5:
mint photo's dude, cheers for posting them
-
Jerry is truly a really gifted rider. I rode on the same Ceramic Rabbit team as him for a bit.
But even the great Jerry could only get a couple of feet out on my dodgy backyard ramp... :2funny:
-
boys is jerry still local or riding
-
i believe he still rides, but has been of the scene since the barn ramp burnt down....
-
He shacked up with a new girlfriend in London and has taken a little break from riding, but he'll be back on it soon... :daumenhoch:
-
i remember him riding vert at one of the bike shows around 2000, when he done a rather large 'loose' 540. the best anyone could hope for would be popping out on the opposite platform, but gerry shot into the sky and busted the best candybar ive ever seen. :LolLolLolLol:
-
does anyone here have contact details for Jerry? If so could they PM me... I haven't spoken to him for about 15 years and i'd like to meet up with him again... i'll get him back on his bike... especially as i've now got in touch with Tim Goldie of Ceramic Rabbit fame...
-
I think that Jerry called up Quad Pete a few weeks ago. Maybe ask him if he as his number

Cheers Alex. Hopefully Quad Pete will read this and PM me...
I am currently trying to sort out another old school CR drink up. I think Andy Brown is gonna come down for the next one.
Tim (Ceramic Rabbit) and Andy (Evolution) organised a number of great jams in the early 90's. It would be good the get them both together again, as I believe neither of them ride anymore. Let's get the spark going and get em both back on a BMX.
-
I've seen Jerry ride a few times and it's scary watching him. The angle he re enters the ramp is unbelievable
-
Saw him at King of Concrete 99 I think and boy he was pure dead brilliant ;D.
Pic of him made it into Ride BMX at the time, you can see me in the back ground, jaw on the floor :D
-
jerry rules ... nice guy too
-
Very true. Always treats you as if you're a mate, hung out at Spitalfields a couple of times and at various comps in the 90s.
Last saw him at Rom about 7 years ago, was asked if I wanted to go out to Leigh-On-Sea with them. I decided to go back home after the session because that's what I said I'd do, and when I arrived the missus said, "Oh, you should've gone. Bet you would've enjoyed that."
Crap.

got to be honest.
i did'nt have a clue who the fella was when he came and rode with us at one meet we had in redditch with carl westfield.
the place was as slippy as ice and theres this fella going massive.
i thought bloody hell he can ride lol.
-
First time I met him in the flesh was at my indoor vert ramp back in 94. One of the other co-owners of the ramp turned up (the former owner of Spitalfields) and told me that I had to throw him out..... Apparently, there had been an incident at Spitalfields which this bloke held Jerry responsible for. It was before my time, and I really didn't know who/what to believe, so I stood by my old friend and asked Jerry to leave.
Well, Jerry was cool. He was polite and respectful and went and crashed out in the van for the rest of the afternoon. I felt terrible.
Now looking back on the whole affair, and the way my old 'friend' has behaved since, I now believe Jerry had nowt to do with any unpleasantry (sp) at Spitalfields and I was wrong to throw him out that day. Jerry, of course, has remained cool and has never held any grudges toward me concerning that day. Makes me feel worse about the whole thing, but my opinion of Jerry remains high obviously.
And he was going off on my ramp, airing well into the roof, smooth as you like, usual Jerrystyle. He was only millimetres away from tyretaping one of the roof beams, which was at least 9ft up and all of 2ft back over the platform. Blew my mind :4_17_5:

I sold Jerry my Morris Minor estate for £50. I dont think he got it past the next MOT!
-
Check out the window sticker...now that's funny.
Are you sure you didn't just nick a random minor at the side of the road? You two look right dodgy; you with your petrol can and Jerry with pink forks...
-
The window sticker was mine ... not that fitting for Jerry tho.
That was out side my flat. I think that bike of Jerrys was a DP firebird freestyler or a skyway ta. He used both those for a while at that time.
-
he sold the ta not that long ago, had to meet a geezer at the m40 services, was a rad member but feck can i remember who it was
-
moggy for 50 notes
bet ya kicking yaself now lol
-
He also bought a Ford Anglia off my sister for about the same kind of money. And I think it got scrapped, like the Moggy, soon after. Old cars, ay!
-
they are great pics :daumenhoch:

Gerry, super cool guy. Always remember him properly flying Chingford or Crouch Hill vert when they were still there.. Once at Crouch I can't remember if he had a puncture or something? Something weird, but he had Borrowed an old really crap mountainbike of a passer by or something? I can't remember it all, I just remember he rode the ramp on it smoothly with flying it the same as a Bmx! I know nobody will ever see someone ride something that way again. More than tons of respect from Me, Linton, R.I.P Pat, John Dye, Doug and anyone else that's really seen him ride.. Wish I saw so much more of it!!! I hope he is doing well and still flying??
-
Was the crouch hill vert on the old railway with a mini ramp tagged onto the back of it?? If it is I'd have loved to have seen Gerry there as we used to ride there(mostly mini) and gatecrash my nans in Muswell hill after. Happy days 8)
Could anyone pump a vert better than Gerry? Saw him at some Radlands jams, Hastings+Koc. Even when some of the big name Americans came over he was never in their shadows!
-
Nice to see this thread resurrected.
I bumped into Jerry at Corby one day a couple of years ago - I believe he'd travelled up to see Zach shaw - he borrowed my mates bike and rode that big vert ramp like he'd never been off a bike, although I'm sure he'd had quite a long time out of the saddle at that point.
Would love to see him ride again.
-
Not a riding pic, but this one is from around 200-2001 when Jerry was taking me around showing me some of his local spots. On the way home from these trails he was rolling up on the steering wheel, doing 90mph in his mk1 golf. It was madness! :LolLolLolLol: :daumenhoch:

....So I have an an epilogue to my earlier story.
MK 2015 and on the Saturday I see a bloke walk past across the way from the ramps. I turned to my mate and said "that fella looks just like Jerry".
A couple of hours later he came over to me and sure enough it was Jerry. He had lost some weight and he looked brilliant. He was very chatty and generally on good form. We then sat down under my tiny so-called gazebo and along with Alex, Ed and a couple of others and we spent the night putting the bmx world straight lol. We exchanged some gossip and told some tales. A great night.
During the course of that evening, I spoke to Jerry about that day back in 94 when I had thrown him out of my barn. I was able to put my side across and properly, correctly apologise to him.
Only took 22 years and he didn't even bloody remember it... :LolLolLolLol:

Hi Guys, first post here as I only recently got back into BMX after 25 years or so....
I got back into it by searching for old friends and finding a load of footage of Gerry on youtube!!
The tales I have of Gerry are too numerous and go wayyyy back. We met at Rom which was my local park from about 1984 to 1991.
We used to go to his mum and dad's house in High Wycombe and sleep on his bedroom floor. I was just a kid then hanging out with Ryan Evans (I see some photos of the two of them in another thread) and a friend of mine called Simon Parker. He had a quarter pipe at the end of a shared drive behind his house. There was another guy, local friend of Gerry's but I forget his name... We set the ramp up then Gerry ripped it up. Must have been all of six feet wide and he'd get 8" out. This was back in about 87....
Gerry was a top guy precisely because he was brought up well, to respect people.
Once my dad came home and Gerry was sitting on his bike in the middle of the road outside my house. We were all teenagers wth attitude so nobody really did the polite introductions stuff. Oh no, Gerry was straight in their. Shook hands, introduced himself, smiled the whole thing. Just naturally. My dad commented on it afterwards "he seemed like a nice guy". My dad was a puritan deacon, just to put that in context!
I'll post some more if people are interested.... Some anecdotes might include bikes, cars, trips and blood too!
Cheers
Anti (as I was 25 years ago) Andi Rowland as I am

Welcome to :radbmxsmilie: Andi
If you want to share anecdotes then this thread would probably be an ideal place to do it ;) Clint Oldschoolace is compiling a bunch of these so any recollections/photos from BITD would be most welcome

Welcome Anti :daumenhoch:
Rom was my local up until 84..... I took a short break (10 years) and came back to riding in 94 so I was lucky to see Jerry riding quite bit at various places - always a treat.
Please feel free to share your tales, I've told all my stories already ;D
