Vice. You will have to crush the two races together and twist. One use only out of those freewheels

WD40 and a tap with a flat head screwdriver in either of those nicks might work

Spent too many hours wrestling with freewheels. I just take them to my local bike shop. They get them off within minutes. Saves a lot of aggro

use a solid steel chisel and a hammer in the little notches, hitting it anti clockwise. try tapping it first, if that does,nt work hit it hard. be prepared to lose some skin off your knuckles with lots of swearing. thats how i do it anyway.

Yep, what Andy said :coolsmiley:

Or use John's method of knuckle - skin removal to teach passersby new swear words  :2funny:

There is a tool that uses the 2 pin holes.  They are the worst.  Take it to your local bike shop.  They ll hate you though.

Haha yeah you can get those 2 prong removers from most places but actually keeping it located in the freewheel enough to apply the amount of torque you will need is another matter altogether. The tools arent expensive though so worth a punt if youre up to it as this will definitely save the bikeshop from hating you and your requests to be as careful as possible with the wheel.

If you do get the tool, to keep it in place i screw the wheelnut on to hold it, leaving half a turn of thread for the tool to screw into as the freewheel cracks loose. Leaving an inflated tyre on helps you grip the wheel better too.
