Title: old hi fi with record turn table
Post by: pickle on August 31, 2013, 12:04 AM
My lad is off to Uni next month and fancies a record player......don't suppose anyone has an old hi fi with working turntable knocking about do they?

Thought I'd ask in here before eBay  :daumenhoch:

Rob, if you have a Heart foundation furniture/electricals shop near you they are also worth a look as they have these in pretty regularly and cheap too.

You may need a pre-amp Rob, especially if the turn table is from a complete `separates' unit, you'll soon know if its dead quiet when playing a record, not a bad thing if its one of your records!!

should only be a few quid on ebay, hopefully you won't need one, just don't want you to think its fooked before you start!

Rob, Munny Mark ia right mate. Check your mini hifi has a set of inputs on the back marked "phono" or it is unlikely to have a phono stage pre-amp. :-\

Off to Uni eh? Blimey,  you're older than I thought :2funny:

Yeah just checked and it has a phono input  :daumenhoch:

I know! Can't believe he's off to uni  he's studying at Leicester so he will come down to the BR when we're there  :daumenhoch:
