With the Hutch off the bench in the man cave, and 90% finished, there's now room for the '90 Robbo Pro f/f that I got off Sam, cheers Sam.
-
I'm going off you Dan :yahoo_silent:
Another nice build in the making :daumenhoch:
-
he's like a machine!
-
It's gonna be sweet as Dan ... Great colours Robbos .. Lots of things work well... I do like the later style (90 onwards) decals too! :smitten:
-
They're nice, i did a black one as my first oldschool build. Even raced it at MK a couple of times. Very light and decent geometry. I sold it a while back but i still like them, very nice graphics on them. Go for chrome and black for me. :daumenhoch:
-
Looks like the makings of a good build there fella :daumenhoch:
-
gonna ride real nice .

I'm going to stick with the original chrome and decals, a proper survivor/rider. :daumenhoch:

Looks like you got a nice bunch of parts already. :)

Well, just a few bits I had on the shelf really, the crank/spider/BB were off my Firebird Freestyler, I had a black Tange headlock, so swapped it with Lenny for the red, and got the hubs very cheap off eBay. The wheels and tyres will go on my GT, but they are the same as what will go on this, except with red nipples. :daumenhoch:
-
Great frame and forks those Dan , I love my Robo Pro rider :smitten:
Looking forward to seeing the progress on this , if it comes out as good as the Hutch you will have another cracker in the man cave 8)
-
very nice "wantit"
-
Looks great Dan. There's lots of scope to change the colour scheme from time to time with these to keep it fresh. Similar to doing a T/A, Patterson or GHP build. Countless colour combinations :daumenhoch:

The seat clamp and post arrived from Alan's today, ordered them yesterday for the princely sum of £16 inc delivery. Also the Suntour 44t chainring arrived off Olly. These chainring bolts are too big, but I've found some for £4 inc delivery. This will be a proper budget build.
-
Looking good mate
-
So the budget build slipped further under budget when I rooted through my spares box and found all the components for a headset and Tange BB. A bit of Autosol and Dremelling, and they're getting used.
-
Bargain, looking good
-
I've got various Robbo decals at home you can have, I'll dig them out when I'm back next :daumenhoch:

Lovely stuff Nick, need some for the bars and seat post. :4_17_5:
-
Nice frameset Dan. :daumenhoch:
Wish I'd kept mine. :(
-
I ordered some of these today, they are the same rims I've used on my Patterson and Hutch. They are getting sent straight to Jay to have polished shiny sides. I already have the spokes for these, but I'd anyone is getting rid of some red LF 36h hubs, then please let me know.
-
I have NOS silver Suzue I could do a deal on :daumenhoch:
-
Why all the mid 80 s bits though ? :pilky:
-
Why all the mid 80 s bits though ? :pilky:
Because I like mid 80's bits. :daumenhoch:

Rims arrived, still got no hubs though.
-
Those rims look lush
-
Nice rims :daumenhoch: I know you fancy Red large flange hubs Dan but a set of polished large flange would look great laced to those rims ;)
-

I'm not sure if that would work Joff, in after low flange too. :daumenhoch:

I'll keep quiet from now on :yahoo_silent:  :LolLolLolLol:
-
I have to agree with both you and Joff on this Dan.
Low flange all the way :daumenhoch:
But silver/chrome hubs as getting a colour match with the rims can be difficult. I had blue hubs on blue rims and the shades were off and it bugged the fook out of me, with silver/chrome you won't have that drama, eating you from inside, everytime you look at the damn thing......keeping you awake at night.....giving you nightmares when you finally fall asleep.....eating, chewing you up.
But it's you bike. build how you want
:LolLolLolLol:
-
Here you go Dan , at least it gives you an idea what they look like .
Two of my wheelsets i built recently...
Araya skinnies to Suzue low flange hubs ....

-
Very nice too Joff :coolsmiley:
I've just been through the Robbo's in the museum on here, and if it's good enough for In2Robinsons and MarkyP, then it's good enough for me.
-
No doubting they will look great Dan , i was just showing you another option ;). I had a tough time trying to find some Sealed red hubs a while back , might be a bit easier with looseball . I actually ended up with two sets , one went on a set of wheels and the other set went to a RADster a few months ago .
-
Nowt wrong with looseball Dan and a lot cheaper :daumenhoch:
-
Think with them mirror finish shiny sides and chrome hubs would look sweet... go for it Dan. :daumenhoch:
-
How did I miss this ... Looking good Dan . Just got myself one of these :daumenhoch:
Joffy Tots , feel free to drop those wheels off ASAP ;D
-
Joffy Tots , feel free to drop those wheels off ASAP ;D
I would Carl but they are earmarked for a build in the next 5 years or so :D
-
Just got myself one of these :daumenhoch:
Me too... picked one up the other day. :daumenhoch:
-
Cheapo copy Suntour stem from porkchop fitted, bars on their way next, courtesy of Our Glenboy.
-
:daumenhoch: pedals in particular are looking good Dan. Love a bit of candy red :4_17_5:
-
Lovely stuff Danny.... Gonna be sweet as! :4_17_5:
-
I've bought some bars off Glenboy, cheers Glen, and they arrived today, so I put the grips on and fitted them.
What are your opinions on these guys, I'm not too sure about the angle of the rake, all my other bars look a lot flatter.
-
bit too much for me Dan, look a bit Burner like :-\
-
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.
-
if we both think it Dan then they need taking off :daumenhoch:
-
Have to agree I'm afraid... Burneresque. :(
-
I agree with Rob and Nick , too much rake for my liking especially on a rider Dan :daumenhoch:
They look nice bars for an earlier build , are they alloy ?
-

I don't think so Joff, I'm in total agreement with you lads, they're coming off and going on my Diamond Back, which is an 82.
Luckily Lenny has an alternative set for this. :4_17_5:
-
Good ol' Lenny :daumenhoch:
-
It's a shame about this build, I had planned to get it ready for July, and take it to Radleigh, where else, the Robinson capital of the UK, and pay homage to Mr Robinson himself, but sadly, the BMX pot is empty, and Amber's Christening, jobs around the house and other things have taken over.
The good news is, I'll still be there, just not on a Robbo. Sorry Carl. :'(
-
Well, due to some back pay from work, it looks like I'll be riding this at the UK Robinson HQ - Radleigh, so I've ordered:
Seat
Padset
Tyres
And bought some bars off Lenny, Boofy supplied the brake blocks, and the NRP bits from Alan's.
The wheels are intended for my black GT, but will use them on the Robbo as I've decided to go with my original plan of red hubs, so will be on the look out for some of those at MK.

-
I fitted the bars, spider, chainring, crank and BB tonight.
I'm starting to really love this build now.

LOVE IT ... but the DC clamp is too 80s for me
-
Just the seat to arrive, and the chain to fit, set up the back brake better and we're ready to ride.

-
Looking Sweet as. another great ride in the collection.
-
I really love your builds Dan. They are built on a budget, but each part really fits in well and complements the others. First class. It looks fantastic :4_17_5:
-
Thanks Andy. I do bounce the idea around in my head about selling a few bikes, and building just one fully loaded, dripping with top end parts, but I love seeing them all together in the man cave, I doubt I could do it.
-
The Hutch isn't exactly bargain basement though :LolLolLolLol: Some quality gear on that! They all look great Dan. I look at your builds and generally think there's nothing i would change if i was doing it myself
-
lovely
fat front tyre?
-
Very nice that Dan :4_17_5:
Gotto love a Robinson :daumenhoch:
-
cracking job dan
-
Cheers lads.
I know the title of this thread says finished, but this is still ongoing, as I have bought a set of red hubs, to compliment the amazing side shine job that Jay's polisher did on the red rims.
Hopefully this will be my MK rider.
-

That is one sweet looking bike there :4_17_5:, I've never built a race bike b4 but that has inspired me to maybe pull my finger out and do one :).
Cheer's for sharing...... :daumenhoch:
