right how does this work i have got 44t front on 24 inch cruiser what size freewheel should i use to get to 44/16 is it the same or does wheel size change this please
-
I believe you'd need a 19t....
Most people drop the chainwheel size down a couple too, so something like 39/17 or summat like that.
-
you can fiddle with the numbers here

the wheel size will affect the gearing :daumenhoch:

I'm running 41-18 on my race bike at the moment.
-
Yep, 41-18 is almost the same as 44-16 on a "20 and was fairly standard BiTD for adult cruisers. I had a Falcon cruiser for a couple of weeks and I'm pretty sure that was the gearing on it.

i prefer up a smidge at 42 -18

You can really stomp those gears Crooch!!!
41t - 18 is between 44t-16 and 45t-16 so it a good starter and probably more suited for us old folk who cannot spin as fast as the used to!!
I did run 40-18 and it felt too spinny. I'd go for 41-18 :daumenhoch:

37-16 :daumenhoch:

39-17 is what i'd like to run :daumenhoch:
-
so is 44/18 harder or easier?
i can get 17t or 18t freewheel easy enough .
-
I have a show fitted red Sugino 41T if required? ;)
