Title: My Hutch Pro Star has Finally Arrived....
Post by: martylaa on December 29, 2009, 03:40 PM
Its taken 2 months for it to arrive but i went and collected it this morning and here it is in all its glory, my untouched Hutch Pro Star.

Its even come with the original Hutch Headlock and Headset which came as standard on these bad-boys and a OG Chrome Zapp Hutch Pad.

Got all the original bits to go with this, gonna be a while for the prep work and re-chroming it will be getting but i can't wait to see how it turns out.

Gotta love a Hutch......

i know i amazed by the quality of the chrome on it, when i first purchased it i had it in my head to get it rechromed, now might be worth just a polish and keep the original decals on it, the forks deffo need a rechrome, shame really it might look odd if i get the forks chromed and just polish the frame
ah decisions decisions......

I'll be watching this with great interest Marty   :daumenhoch:

If possible though, avoid rechroming the frame, keeping its original integrity will make it that bit more special. I guess with these bikes people want to maximise the bling factor, so I know what you saying if the forks (and the rest of the components) look gleaming and new it can make a frame look a little out of place. Keep working at it though, I've had some right shit stuff and with a bit of graft can come out very decent and blend in with a mint bike.  From what I can see it looks far from buggered though.

BTW, it's an 83 frame, are you going for 83 spec?  And has it got a serial, they look like the earlier Thruster welds (which would be pre serial)

thanks Terry, yeah eventually got them the original shipping label fell off and they got returned to the seller he then reposted to me, very very nice as well, just bought another 2 sets over the weekend 1 nos set and 1 very good quality set, got my eye on 2 more sets at the moment
that deal on the pedals fell through though, scored some from another buyer which had original race cages on so no need for those ones which hadwith freestyle cages on them, thanks for the offer though Terry

I would just rechrome the forks myself, 95% of frames I've seen with a rechrome look shit (too shinny and all the plate edges rounded off). Nice frame BTW  :daumenhoch:

Yeah i agree its just too nice to rechrome, a polish will bring the frame back to life, that way i can leave the original decals on the frame.
Not sure how those forks will turn out might look out for some chrome pro forks and swap them with these ones

lovely thing  :coolsmiley:.
i'd deffo leave as was.
its like my ole patterson.i so want it nice and blingy but i just cant lose the original stickers etc on it so leave it as it come rust and all.
i'd deffo get steve on the job and make a set of them zap pads though to make it stand out that bit different to the rest  :).

been talking to a few people in the states about this gold/green pad the general concensus is that it was an original chrome/black hutch zapp pad thats been out in the sun to long and its had the colour changed due to that, not sure i believe that mind, but no one can nail it down exactly as too what and how its turned up.
i think i have a one off hutch zapp pad prototype :LolLolLolLol:
