The retro Haro's got very poor reviews, what seemed like an exciting idea was poorly executed. Stodgy Dave at Radbmx shop got a sale on, have a look in for sale section on his thread or click the link on home page. Give him a call tomorrow even ,he'll put you on the right track and give get you value for money.
£5 please Dave.

Hi Mate.
Have you not considered building an old school bike. Have a look in the museum, If your parents, like mine, could only afford to buy you a serriously low end bmx back in the day then i'm sure it will inspire you to build something you only ever dreamed of owning as a kid.
Anyway welcome aboard and all the best.
Si. :daumenhoch:

The 2009 was a poorly executed cash cow, and if I'm honest the 2006 retro sport seems a lot better...cheap too.
Here's one I made some time ago now....

All respect for your efforts Harorider...You've done a great job. But the big problem with the 09 original freestyler is that it costs (for most people) a small fortune before you even start to modify it (its just too damn expensive for what it is)...and that really is the killer.
I do like your bike though :daumenhoch:
Ray.
-
true mate but most things when you start to mod cost a arm and a leg :-\
-
Harorider love your freestyler mate that has to be the best modded 2009 model i have seen :daumenhoch:
Wildon thanks for showing me this site fella
Chris really got my mind set on a Freestyler but PM me a price please
Will look in PK Rippers but have my mind almost made up it`s got to have skyway mags so that`s around £80 £100 to start off with.
Thanks for your help guys :)
-
ask paul how much the haro cost him :-X

Cheers matey the chaps pm`d me TBH the cash flow is a bit tight over xmas so was going to put it on the old visa card and pay it over a few months.
-
possibly THE worst new school bike out there right now tbh, its so outdated its got more in common with the mid school, its cheaply built, ugly and heavy,
the tuffs are nice but they'll flex like fook,
designed entirely for getting the most amount of cash from mid-life crisis older riders wanting a little old school flavour,
plus if you're coming from a mountain bike and are anything over '5"7 it'll be woefully undersized,
just buy a real bmx from a proper bmx company, paint it and put some repro haro stickers on it,
"hardo" made a right bollocks of this "retro" project.

if you had taking the time to read this properly you would have noticed he is not looking for nor is this a "new school bike" and you clearly have never picked one up as they are not as heavy as you think and most people that saw mine and picked it up at mk2009 were amazed and i also disagree with your height to size of bike ratio!! this is radbmx where 99.9% of us are too big for our bikes but still have the balls to go out and ride on em :coolsmiley:
-

Oooooh, you've opened up a can of worms there dude.
Joe does ride, and very well too!
What he means is new school bikes are available in longer top tube sizes.
Most old school bikes were 19.5 max.

I personally didn't read that into it...I interpreted it as saying as most of us are into OS, then there are times we have to be pretty thick-skinned to ride these small bikes...and indeed we are.
None of us should give a shit about what others think of our hobby...it's our lives, our time, and our money.
I think we need to chill a bit on this retro stuff, we all have our opinions, sometimes we like things simply because it brings things back to us...whether the product is good or bad is not always relevant, only how we relive those memories
and the good feelings it gives to us...
We should not knock each others bikes, as regardless of how shitty we feel some bikes are we would just be pissing on each others memories, and that none of us truthfully want.
Ray.
-
::) exactly ::)
we all probably think that any bike we look at could have been this and could have been that but i bought the 2009 haro and done the best i thought i could do with it and was over the moon with a lot of radsters comments they made to me,so big thanks to them
and broggie your right everybody can have their own opinion but there is no need for others to take it to a personal level :-\
-
Each to their own methinks, one mans shit is another mans sugar :buck2:
If a newbie wants a cheaper version of a haro freestyler to raz around the park with his kids it's upto him.
-
the thread title clearly states "Advice needed"
all i gave was my honest opinion.
-
And we love you for it buddy :daumenhoch:
-
Thanks for the advice guys i have gone and bought one lol as it`s only going to be used for light rideing when out with my young un`s so should be fine for the job 8)
Just order a few bits and bobs off ebay etc,, to mod it back to that old skool look so far i have got a dominator seat, ame grips, odyssey tan walls tyres and there will be more to come.
Anyone know the size of the seat post and could recommended a good lay back seat post ??
Cheers Doo
-

-
Nice one Doo, get some pictures up when you finish it. :daumenhoch:
-

Dave

-
why retro?
Because you've had it away with all the proper ones and what was left was either a 09 retro or a puch maxi...
As for the layback stem...try billys bmx of cambrdge, they were doing some cheap laybacks 25.4...I bought two of them about a year or so ago...they have an online site too

Thats how i used to ride in the 80`s lol ;)
Have not rode the bike yet and need to set it up but your right they do need to come back a bit as there almost hitting the seat when the bars are spun.
-
:) Prob need a tophat washer for the spider to fit onto your cranks. Most OS spiders need a 23.8mm down to whatever diameter your spindle is.

as a rule (although it is personal preference) the bars should be inline with the rake of the forks :daumenhoch: OS bikes had a much slacker head tube angle to modern geometry so it was how we all had them BITD
-
:4_17_5: same as anything dont follow the crowd do what you want and love it just ride it
-
At least pump the fookin tyres up Dave! Air is free ya know.

I've been looking at a 2009 bike and also think they look pretty crap, but looking at yours with just a few old school bits has changed my mind, reckon that you are gonna turn that into a cool looking bike mate :daumenhoch:
-
I'm sorry dude, there's no easy way of putting this and it's not intended to sound nasty but I think it's awful.
Each to their own mate and I totally respect your choice but I just don't dig em.
If your happy then cool.
