Picked this up today, Found it on Gumtree. Covered in camo tape. Original stickers underneath. Spent sometime taking the tape off. Looks OK. Some bits will be going up for sale, Not sure on what to do with it yet.
As I got it

It was listed as a 91, Can anyone confirm this. Talking to the guy, He has had it from new and imported the Frame, forks, bars and stem from the states. He covered it in camo tape to stop it been nicked while at uni.
-
Cool find
Just clean it up and use it.... :daumenhoch:
S&M started using 1 1/8" headsets 95 onwards i think, deffo later than 91
-
"oversized" referred to the "1-1/8th aheadset,
i'd have said it was much later than 91, like 97/98 ???

Keep the lot mate, leave it as is.
Love these evolution bikes with bits from all era's
-
keep it and ride it Gary :daumenhoch:
-
I liked it the way you bought it Brother.
Back in the nineties everyone that I knew that rode had fck all money. We just cobbled together what we could to get a rider.Save up for a good frame then just slap a load of odd parts on it and you were away.
Cover it in camo tape, rattle can it black or cover it in gaffer tape just do what ever you have to to keep your ride in your possession.
Most of us say "it took me right back" every now and then but the way that Holmes was when you bought it really did "take me right back"
Rat bikes are dead, Long live Rat bikes. L

Thats a blinder, really nice. Totally great the way it was. I had a Holmes that I built for a mate that was so close to that. o.p.c., 36 hole wheels, loads of GT stuff, but S&M frame, forks and bars.
And its deff a mid-to-late 90s frame, like the others have said. :daumenhoch:
-
Just got a Hot Seat for it, Also got some cheap 48 wheels, Hoping to build it back up this weekend. Will let my wife use it for the school run. Will get some pics once it's done.
-
Nice Holmes :daumenhoch: I'd have left it as it was as well, that camo tape ruled! Bet You enjoyed picking it all off
-
Looks like a '95 or a '96? I had a '94 o'95 dirt bike and that looks like the style that came out just after mine. Its a cracker that one! Love the Ultra Burner back wheel! Keep it as it is! The parts are so typical for that time.

It's been hanging in the shed awaiting some more attention, Got some the other night, But couldn't get pics to upload.
