Title: Very odd BMX Frame identification Challenge!
Post by: thecaptain on February 08, 2010, 03:18 PM
LOOKS 80'S BUT I COULD BE SO WRONG, THOUGHT IT WORTH PUTTING IN THE MID SECTION AS WELL AS OLD SCHOOL SECTIONS

Bought on ebay, titled 'bmx frame' had a punt on it and won.

Would really like to know what Ive bought, its pretty heavy, most likely steel, has a very early 80's feel to it but im most likely way off

has RH and LH stamped on each dropout, im guessing right hand and left hand

Seattube is 25.80mm inside diametre (did have a seatpost stuck inside which read 'TI STURMEY ARCHER' ENGLAND' '25.80MM')

simple serial number which reads 33044

Seattube goes into and through the bottom bracket (pictured)

welds actually look pretty good

If anyone could bust a move as to what this is or even point me in the right direction Id be very grateful

:) Looking at the tube junctions and the soldering,I reckon it`s an Armitage Shanks, circa 1893. :daumenhoch:

What You lot talking about? It's way ahead of it's time! Externally butted tubing, bottom bracket grind plates & the next big thing in frame design, arc welding  :LolLolLolLol:
Is it an old Iron Horse frame or something?

Id like to ride that one time, to see how long it would take to rip the BB clean out!  I bet I could do it in about 3 or 4 attempts at a nice stair set  :LolLolLolLol:

haha.

Don't look the best of quality  ;D
