Title: What replica parts have you had made/fabricated
Post by: firebird4130 on February 09, 2010, 12:53 AM
Anyone had no option but to have a BMX part made from scratch. I'd be interested to see any such items ,Also where you had it done and the cost involved
Cheers  :daumenhoch:

I made a brake mount back in the late 90's, twin cables worked a lot better than the crappy gyro cables and this was a great little device based on a sun ringle thing that you couldnt get over here. It was made out of a tnt seat clamp and a couple of adjusters.

I made a 4 'spoke' grind disk out of a chopping board cos I wanted to use a flight ring as they were the one of the only 19mm chainrings

I made some brake cable outers out of ally tube so there was zero compresion. It didnt work cos I crashed and bent them so bad that the brakes didnt pull

I made some Hubs. (I designed them and got them made by someone else).

I made some Pegs. (I designed them and got them made by someone else).

Ive made  a few chain tensioners

And invented left hand drive!

I was breaking a  chain every run (back when we all used a 44t charinring). I had to do something!

I've always wanted to know if you could get a replica skyway tuff made out of billet ally. Like how they make wheels in American Chopper.

I wanted to make some new tuffs look like old style ones so I had these made by an engineer friend, similar to rad kaps.

I might be wrong, but I think Sander made them (or there were questions raised about the authenticity of some JMC posts he was selling)?  :-\

Was that the time there was a few 'frank exchanges of opinions' over repro and genuine parts over on the Vintage BMX website? I seem to remember that, it was pretty worrying. I never knew a metal tube with a bend in it could raise so many hackles.

Due to Popular demand, I have had another batch of these brushed alloy skyway centre caps made.

Make your new skyways look like the 80's alloy hubbed versions with these laser cut discs !

Available exclusively on Burnerworld !

Simply fits over the hubs and stick on with a little silicon or no nails (like the rad kaps for graphites)
