came across a set today doing a deal with the fella these ones have sealed SR hubs on, same as in the first advert picture you put up its got the same sticker on the hubs but no mention of araya anywhere??
-
There are NO marks on them to say that mongoose made them, because Araya made them:
They have the usual Araya stamp, but if they are in top condition they will still have the little decal arond the valve hole that reads - PRO CLASS T.M.
Hope that helps
Dan

couldnt see any stamp but didnt want to look to eager, if you no what i mean ;D
Was copies made of these ??
-
Copies were made but the hubs were not suzies. If the ones you are looking at have suzie sealed hubs then they are from a high end goose maybe a Supergoose III :daumenhoch:
-
mine didnt have the araya stamp but they were pro class had the little decal sticker round the valve hole ?/
-
I think the first batches carried the stamps because they used off the shelf or already stamped 7x stock at Araya to make the first load. I think the 7x rims they used after that they didn't bother stamping. They just drilled and decalled them.

Well remembered Kev, go to the top of the class.
I have a few sets of Pro Class rims, 2 of those sets are the original early versions which indeed were Araya 7x with holes stamped in them. You can actually see the outside of the stamp around the hole. The later models were unstamped Araya's with a Pro Class decal around the valve hole.
However Mongoose also made a cheaper steel model which they put on the lower end bikes.

thanks everyone, seems like there the real deal then :daumenhoch:
-
both my pairs had decals but no araya stamp ;)

whay hey picked me wheels up today :daumenhoch: can just make out the words pro class around the valve :daumenhoch: the gezza had a set of alloy hubbed skyways there as well but he wanted 10 million zillion quid for them so i give it "na mate there only to stick on me sons old school type runaround how about them old things (flaz points at the pro class wheels ;D ) ker ching cheap as chips need some advice now thou? can i do anything with the rusty old spokes? or is it better just to go with new ones? and they are well rusty
-
I believe the bark of the jaboa tree is good for rust removal, and extra good at the rust of spoked implements
-
if the jaboa tree don't work
(but it may ......)
could try some scrunched up tin foil
does a pretty good job on rust removal
-
Never mind that old bow lacks Flaz.
Who's that sort on the bike in your avatar, that's the question on everyones lips :smitten:
-
If they are really pitted/rusty then emery cloth followed by wet n dry will do it. If they are just oxidised then use autosol and a rag.
Its a pain in the arse 288 times over ;D

My last set of Pro Class rims had unsealed low flange ACS hubs. But on some of the other sets I've had in the past have had DK sealed hubs and I once built a set with GT Superlace sealed hubs.
-
these one ive got are sr sealed bearing they are as sweet as, run loverly
-
I'm sure the set on my supergoose 3 has unsealed hubs.....think they had pro class on them but the is buried in the garage ( like everything else!)
