Hi
and yes i have read the topic in the sticky but there are a few questions i need to know.
I have the original Elina seat that is faded for my Nishiki project. Obviously with it faded it will need dyeing, now i've never done this before.
How many tubs of red do i need and which red ????? If someone could supply a link to one that would be superb. :4_17_5:
Do you need to add salt and why ?????
Does it have to be done in a bucket first or can it be done straight from the pan ?????
Will the dyeing process ruin the Elina badge's or whats left of them ?????
Photo's below of the armchair.

The photo's make the chair look redder than it actually is.
many thanks for any help. :coolsmiley:

dont take this the wrong way but that seat looks fooked at best, ie crack where frame rail meets the seat, wouldnt you be better off with a new saddle....after all your gonna have to spend 15 quid on dye and salt, plus your time, and at the end of the day you will only end up with a seat that is still cracked, but bright red.....?
just a thought
however, dye it on the hob over the heat, in a big saucepan, all saddles that ive dyed the writing hasnt been affected, and even if it does flake off there is always the del

Understand what you're saying about the cranks but it's the original one off the bike. Considering the bike will be a cleaned/spruced up unridden survivor i thought it may still be ok to use.
I've seen Elina's go for silly amounts and i'd rather not spend that as i'm a tight bastard. :LolLolLolLol:
Cheers chaps anyhow. :daumenhoch:

ive just done a kashi and some z-rims using rit dye and salt, amazing results imo its better than dylon, it seems to give a richer finish than dylon which ive found can leave the thing your dyeing a bit patchy
