Title: hub rebuild
Post by: Peanut on March 29, 2006, 10:32 AM
I've got these old mag wheels and the hubs are old and rusty and feel very 'grindy' when you turn the axle, I know nothing about wheel hubs so is there anything I should be looking out for when I strip and rebuild them?

Take em to bits and bang all the metal pars into petrol or derv (in a jam far)

Leave for a day or so and they should be better. Give em a clean up and put em  back together with lots of grease.

Just remember the orderyou took em to bits and you cant go wrong :)

Just be careful not to lose your balls when you strip 'em ;)

If your balls are rusted and pitted when you look at them, you can buy new shiney smooth ones from any bike shop - be sure to take one with you to match up  :)
