What is the procedure for stopping my chain rubbing on my seat stays?
-
:wtf:
what bikes that on ?
-
My new race Kuwa race bike.
-
bet horsehead built it thats why
-
That's a massive help, Thanks!
-
no worries we are here to help
get some pics up so we can looky
-
What size freewheel are you running? How far forward is the wheel? Are you running a skinny chain?I know Crooch had similar problems with a Chris King hub and a half-link chain.
Like Pete said get some pics
-
tighten the chain up :-\
-
It's a modern race bike, so the gearing is 16/44.
it looks like if I took a link out of the chain and shoved the wheel forward it might solve it, but that would be pretty slammed!
-
Washers to push the frame out from the sprocket :daumenhoch:
-
Will that be OK with an alloy frame?

Will that be OK with an alloy frame?
Should be so long as you don't over stress the frame, a small amount should be OK :daumenhoch: Is there any play between the cones and the inside of the croput if the wheel nuts are loose?
-
croput?
-
Washers seem to be the sensible option,or you could see if a 43t ring would give you a bit more space between the chain & frame. One of those stick on neoprene/carbon patches on the inside of the stay would help to prevent any further damage.
-
I've already stuck a patch on the seatstay to prevent any chipping.
Trouble is, It rub's on that like a bitch :knuppel2:
-
If its a cassette hub, take off the drive sprocket and move the spacers round so the cog is nearer the hub, if there is no spacers then usually flipping the sprocket will re space it nearer , this will allow the chain to clear the stays, also make sure your front sprocket is spaced correctly or your chain line will be fruity :daumenhoch:
-
I'm sure the external BB isn't helping matters!
that must hold the sprocket a good centimeter further out than a normal BB?
-
Are there any spacers on the drive side of the BB? (between the external cup and the frame)
Get some pics up
-
I should have asked this before, so just to clarify, is the chain rubbing on the Chain Stay or the Seat Stay? The Chain Stay being the one that runs from the bb to the dropout and the Seat Stay from the dropout to the seat tube?
If the Chain stay; is it rubbing at the dropout end ot the bb end? Ifthe bb end sounds like the chain alignment is out of whack and spacers on the bb and the hub might be needed.
Pic would be helpful :daumenhoch:

Rubbing on the seat stay.
About three inches from the hub.
