Title: Mk10 to those going, a request, alright a beg really
Post by: Broggie on March 06, 2010, 05:35 PM
I ain't an old school bmxer, I know sod all about bmx...but I want to learn more.  I know you're all there for some fun, a bit of racing, banter and the competitive edge...

I feel a bit left out because I know sod all.

I feel a bit left out because due to bad parenting necessitating early independence I have been self sufficient, and therefore in need of no one else most of my life, and so I am not the worlds No1 mixer, or life of the party...

I'm aware, sadly, that I can be boring at times...

From years of honing your skills, tricks are second nature to you, whereas I am just plain scared of breaking my neck...

I ask simply...

Can you take a little time to teach me some tricks, so I feel like I can do something with my bike, instead of feeling like a fraud who knows sod all...

I might be crap at racing too, but I would like to try regardless, win or lose doesn't matter.

It would mean a lot to me...

I know this makes me sound like a sad old git, but better to say it as it is than pretend otherwise.

Many thanks.

Ray.

While videos may be great for fitting deureilleurs, they kind of lack the personal touch, and push for learning tricks...it's not just about tricks, its about people knowing who you are....

Bike + Beer + Tricks = Not a good idea  :buck2:
Have a wobble round the lake on the Sat and i'm sure someone will show you a bit of flatland  ;)
I'm gonna be doing some dead long black skids in our Hotel foyer whilst drunk on Friday and Sat nights. Hopefully Pete, Lee and Stodge will be up for it too  ::)

I disagree with you Pete. I think ray should hang out with Matt, cos then he will realise he aint boring at all and he can learn loads about OS BMX, useful things like thread sizes of Landar trick nuts, the weight of a pair of Whale Tails, correct placement of a BJ Cycles decal and if you ask him nicely he may show you his collection of 80's headset bearings  ;)

You'll learn loads. Just bring plenty of booze and the time will fly by.

I've got to be honest. I just love riding...I missed all the days of Bob haro, Eddie fiola etc...  But lately I have been infused, as you did when a kid, by the possibilities and enjoyment of taking things beyond the envelope.  Call it a second childhood, call it a mad minute, call it what you like.
But we are a long time dead, so its important that we enjoy how we live....

Ray, 90% of us all old and shyte so don't worry mate

I'm not worried about being shyte.  Last year I was too worried about the mk09 caravan, some shuffle munsterer changed the lock on the access gate so I was never able to test the new lights I fitted to it.  This year if I have to use a tent, so be it.  I am there and I do not care if I am rubbish, only that I learn something from being there, and make some new friends, get drunk and eat shit food...sod all else matters.

Hi Ray  ;)

I'm the same, all the gear no idea, like peeps said, the MK Lake cruise is cool on the evening, just ridin like a kid and havin a laff with it. If peeps talk to ya cool, if not no worries, not the end of the world, we can't be everbodys mate.

Yeah you got the real serious knowledgeable radsters/collectors/high end builds, I don't know much tbh, I joined Rad cos that's what I enjoyed most as a kid, and now just love ridin me bike (not even to do tricks), collecting the things that appeal to me and reading BMX mags. Basically reliving the good times of my youth, that's what does it for me :daumenhoch:

There's some top peeps on this site/at MK, at the end of the day we all share the same interest to some degree or other, so you'll be fine ;)

PS: Someone talk to me this year :LolLolLolLol:

Paul
