Title: Chrome stem or Haro Group 1 stem on an '86 Haro
Post by: LucyLastic on March 12, 2010, 05:16 PM
I'd love to either put a Haro Group 1 stem on my bike or another brand chrome one.  If I can't get a Group 1 one, would I mess up the 'dating' of the bike if I could get a chrome one?  Do decent chrome ones exist around '86 or pre '86?  What sort of price could I expect to pay for a fairly good condition (not show cond)  Group 1 or chrome stem?

Hi  :)

Found these NOS Haro Fusion one's on Flea Bay, one is all Chrome, but one is Chrome/Black. Fair price, not an expert on Haro parts but these would be much cheaper than a Haro Group 1. Think Fusion parts are very late 80s, early 90s.
Or
Go for a good old Suntour. Vert-ego still has them in stock.

you don't say what haro it is? group one's are quite nice don't get chrome on alloy as it tends to flake off after a while get it polished :smitten:

hi lou, as paul said id go for polished over chrome mate as the finish is so much more durable. flaky or pitted chrome looks crap. what stem have you got on it? i reckon if you squeeze a blob of autosol on and give it a good polish you should get the look you are after :daumenhoch:

plenty of peeps with polishing machines on here that would help i am sure if you wanted a mirror polished finish
