Post by: dordymush on March 18, 2010, 06:57 PM
dont laugh as i should know the ammount of tuffs i've had. but are they the standard freewheel thread size  :crazy2:

just got  a shimano mx30 freewheel and it seems very tight to go on.
not forced it so thought i best ask before i attack it with a big spanner lol.

How did you get on with that

Yea, same!  use a wire brush on the threads and clean them, then lube them

I noticed that the freewheel I had was very slightly threaded  :idiot2:, staright in the bin, bought a new Dicta one of the bay, but I did take Glens advice and cleaned the thread on the hub, I used a green kitchen scourer and plenty of grease  :crazy2: and the freewheel went on easily.  :daumenhoch:

and I 've also noticed that I'm logged in as Woody, but I am bobbysam :uglystupid2: been posting stuff for him as he's useless, sorry Woody  :4_17_5:

Take the first few rows of threads of with a fin file it wont take long as it is only Ally.  Take you time and taper the threads and hey presto Skyway's are usable again.   :daumenhoch:
