as far as i know its all original (apart from mongoose grips) and maybe the stem, maybe someone can shed some light on the stem... ???
its all in fantastic condition apart from surface rust and minor scratches, no brake rub on the wheels, no drop-out crushingor any damage...
just what was in halfords shop window in 1980/1981...
back tyre shows major freestyle damage.... ???
Hmmmm!!!!! 'track certified' as well.... :LolLolLolLol:

that's what i started out on,a Team Murray, but got a lesser model....that was the one i really wanted. Nice bit of history there Sam. Did you get the Huffy ?

It was the same as that one only chrome but me mate had the one with the red frame, bars and tyres his stem was on a angle and it had a red top. Next time I am at me mams I will dig some pics out ;)

love to see them

If I'm not mistaken that's a 340 and my first bike too. It would have had a single bolt stem and nasty hard grips.....
They're known for splitting at the seemed bb shell and breaking at the seatstay/seattube.
My mate had the orange and black 310 with steel rims, my bike was luxurious in comparison and the wasps use to bother him down the woods!

saw this on the bay sam ,,,nice one :daumenhoch: ,did you pay the bin price

That is awesome. Reminds me of getting the bus into town to stand a stare at the Team Murry range in the old Halfords, over the road from The Grand.
Fantastic :daumenhoch:

Looks like a cracking survivor that only needs a bit of a clean :smitten:
-
Yer gonna need some heaver springs in the car if you carry that and the Huffy together :LolLolLolLol:. Nice pair of survivors you'll have there :daumenhoch:

That takes me back, a kid on our estate had one, first BMX I ever saw in the flesh. Used to do my head in, he wasn't interested in jumps or wheelies or anything while the rest of us were shearing off cotter pins on our Strikers :'(
-

i used to go up town on my drop-handle just to see this bike.
it looked whacky!!!!
never seen blue tyres and yellow seats before... it seems leaps ahead of a grifter...
-
awsome....
my first bmx was a chrome 340 with black lesters.....rad as
Dave
-
Nothing wrong with that at all, it's a breathe of fresh air to see these sort of bikes still around today.
Very very nice indeed. :4_17_5: It doesn't have to be a Hutch, JMC or a Quadangle to be class.
-
As Loverock said i would rather see one of these then a Pro Star :4_17_5: My first bmx was a chrome one of these with the black lesters :daumenhoch:
-
made me smile also,
my first one was a 310 or 330 (cant remember)
looking forward to seeing it at mk10 :daumenhoch:
-
I have a team murray 310 awaiting attention , but i havent got a fookin clue what to do with it. :D
-
My first BMX too. Definitely the wrong stem as they were fitted with a single bolt neck but at least someone had the sense to change it!

1979 Halfords Bolton town centre, its all coming flooding back. Saw these and had never heard of BMX at the time, think I had a grifter at the time. Had never had a new bike and begged me mum to get me one for xmas and she put a dipper on one. Then went across to WH smiths and ordered the only bmx magazine on the market at the time BMX Action what a read that was, must have read the print off those early mags waiting 2/3months for xmas. Had the blue/chrome one, had Arayas, Sugino 3pc and a natty double freewheel 14t/16t (never seen one before or since). My mate Ishy had the chrome with black lesters weighed a ton. Oh happy days :smitten:

NIce one could never remember the number. Anyone got any scans/pics of the range or adverts? Mine got nicked, managed to get it back but the tossers had scraped the candy blue paint off to try and disguise it, was never the same after that >:( Traded for a Redline MX11 eventually at Viking sales Davyhulme.
Anyone ever come across one of the double freewheels?
-
Nice one Youngy, you did EXACTLY the same as me....T.M onto a Redline. My Murray had a double cog freewheel as well.
-
Cool find Sam, can't beat an early classic :daumenhoch:
-
so was the lester mags all yellow on these as the ones i got off my old puch have the outlines in alloy.
wonder if the previous owner/s done it in the past .
heres mine. save me messing trying to polish em back up if there all yellow.
