Is this the case for all of the CW bars?

I read in a few places that from 86 onwards they had straight knurling?

If it is the case then I need to change my Ebay auction, and also means I was lied to when I bought em.....

I could be wrong - but they were always finished in the same way.. I have never owned a white pair, but I think they are smooth, rather than knurled..

maybe if they were stripped would the knurling be there, I am  not sure...

But if they were strpped and smoothed, then someone chromed them later - would they be CW'S :-\

I've got a set black bars on my bike which I bought new in about 83 (I think) They have small diamond knurling on them.
This is more visable now as some of the black paint has come off so they might have appered more smooth when new.

A lot of the copy bars I have seen have slightly curved top tubes where the original ones were dead straight untill they passed the welded bit then had a sharp bend in them where the brake levers and grips were put on.

I believe your bars are genuine CW bars Roonga - I saw your listing on ebay and it made me go on a hunt as I had remembered reading something about genuine CW bars without the diamond pattern knurling.

Found it again on bmxmuseum - it appears they came with some CW completes - not sure if they were sold separatley with this knurling BITD  :-\

Here are the pics from the bmxmuseum thread :

Same knurling as yours  :daumenhoch:

As for the more typical CW bars here is a set I recently sold showing most of the chracteristics to look for.......

These were pro-size ones.

overall dimensions 28" wide by 9 1/2" tall

Thanks for digging that out!

Yeh quality of welding is 100%, only the knurling had me worried a bit, but your info along with what I had already found makes me feel a lot more confident now.

Cheers!
