Do you have a barrel adjuster for the frame and a cable straddle/hanger? Looks like the angle from the straddle cable to the barrel adjuster will be harsh..

you need one of those grub screw nipple clamps that come with dia compe hombre's for the hook side and a regular nipple clamp for the side with the hole in, run a gyro only with that frame a mongoose at a guess? with a dual cable set up lower gyro section, don't use a cable hanger get a nipple clamp. if you are struggling to get any of theese parts get in touch i can help.

thanks for the replies gents...
I don't have any bits... thats all that came on the bike ( a Specialized Vegas 2001 )
I'm trying to get it sorted and want to spend as little as possible....
So... will it ONLY run with a rotor? no way it will work without? Is there another brake I could get thats cheap!
Yes I need help with any bits you can help me with!

Ed....if you want to get another brake (that will be better than the Tektro) get yourself a Diatech Hombre for about £12 and it'll come with all the bits you need :daumenhoch:

Ed,
The pic below is an evolver set up in the same way, except your two cables will cross over behind the seattube and go into the diagonally opposite brake arm.
Like wirewheel says, stick a regular cable clamp in one side, and a grub screw type of nipple clamp in the other, and it should work fine.
This is only the case for twin lower gyro cables though. If you're running a single brake cable from the lever, just get a straddle cable and regular cable hanger and ignore the two cable guides at each side of the seattube altogether. If you need a straddle cable and hanger, drop me a PM. Should have something here that'll work which you can have foc.

I am finding it all a bit perplexing too Ed, building up this Mongoose with loads of brakey bits that i'm sure I wont need, I can't see me ever needing a rotor either, my arms only `x' up to 180 at best!
gonna try and work out a single cable/saddle straight from the lever.
let us know how you did it if you beat me there, i'll do likewise!
