I bought this '84 Foreign Freestyler' as a complete bike some time ago off fleebay, its changed a bit since then too. I am a complete Haro convert!
This is how it arrived:

and these didn't show the harsh rust on the other side, it pretty much looked like it came out of a pond, but was solid.
So I had it stripped and painted by Neil who did a brilliant job, and was very much helped by Jj to get it there (thanks Buddy!) dropping it off to Neil on his way North. Del supplied the decals.

and this is its current state, most parts are NOS and it will be tweeked a little bit just to finish it off . . . hope you like it? :smitten:

Cheers Rob, glad you like it, I'm smitten!
I will do the tyres at some point, I have just received some green cables to put on it, I'm going to replace the crank with a minty refurbished one Chromo one and the seat post will be replaced for the original Reynolds 531 once I have had it re-chromed.
Not a great deal really, just a little tweeking ;)

WOW
How it should be done an 84 freestyler with 84 parts ( Sx's and 901/880 's )
:coolsmiley:
one piece good choice, brakes, good choice (prefer a 880 on the front for perfection :daumenhoch: ), Z's excellent choice instead of Tuffs for this build
Very nice :4_17_5:
-
UMM im likeing that . Very nice and looks good with the z rims
-
That's Mint :4_17_5:
-
Nice Work :daumenhoch:
-
The Haro looks great Ben :daumenhoch: said it before and will say it again 'I cant believe thats the same POS that you left here with the battle scars and stuck seat post'
Excellent work. :4_17_5:
-
Nice one :daumenhoch:
I'd go for a 880 front, them 901 are useless if you plan any trick, will hit the frame... and such a nice paint work doesn't deserve that
-
That really looks good now :)
Put it in here.......

Very nice and a great resto job :daumenhoch: have to agree those Z's look awsome on it :smitten:
-
Nice work fella........... :daumenhoch:
-
Great resto and looks Awesome :4_17_5:
-
Lovely Z's. :smitten: A blue DC seatclamp would look ace but they are well pricey these days. :crazy2: The Tuf Neck looks nice, too.
-
Great save man. You've really done it justice :daumenhoch:
It must give you a real Buzz.
Like the others, I think the 880 front is a must.
I don't feel like I have the right to comment but perhaps a black seat might be nicely off-set by those cool Z'ds.
Either way, you done a great job 8) :daumenhoch:
-
Looks great, another Haro saved :4_17_5:
-
Nice one Ben - love it fella!
Any joy on the TA dude?
Weeksy

Very nice and the colour combo is great, but others mentioned 880's or 901's on an '84?? No, no and thrice no.
It's your ride and I'm not telling you how to build it, that is of course your prerogative, but to suggest putting 880/901's on a freestyler from '84 is just wrong (imho).
-
that is lush :smitten:
-
very nice :smitten:
-
nice :daumenhoch:
-
super clean build dude :4_17_5:
-
Nice one dude :4_17_5:
Do you still have the green/white mushies?
-
Very...very nice, sweet resto, Harotastic 8) :4_17_5:
-
As Haro would have said himself.......Bitchin!!

Thanks for all the positive comments :coolsmiley:

Its good to save these old sheds, from POS to 'As New' really worth the effort
I will look around for a 880, I was looking before but they were quite pricey for just the caliper alone. I will keep looking.

TA is next! Im not going to get it rechromed, I've pussied out!

I'm just a bit fed up with paying so much for a set of 1000's, 901/880 is going to have to do it Im afraid, and 1000's just shouldnt go with tech 4's, it would be another £200 which I would rather put into something else . . . I've just realised I'm ranting :-X
Jj, that stupid seatpost kept me awake 2 nights thinking how I was going to get it out the frame without ruining one if them . . . then you just pull the thing out, brilliant! I can sleep easy now :idiot2:
I LOVE MY MASTER :D

Nice one Ben - total transformation - well saved :daumenhoch:
-
Ben , Im not the Haro masters biggest fan , much prefer the Sports myself but that build could convert me , love it mate :smitten:
I agree on the comments on putting an 880 on the front though ;)
The Black zeds make a refreshing change to Tuffs too , love those .
Very nice resto Ben :4_17_5:

I know what your saying and I wasn't having a dig at your ride, like I said, it's yours and you build it how you want to (and I think it's great by the way). It was more as a general comment about being era/style correct for the anal people like me.
-
Great job!
make sure you save the Tuffs cos they'll be a great project for next winter.
-
V.Nice Ben, turned out well that :daumenhoch:
-
Love a good before and after - stunning Ben....

Top resto - I love seeing the before and after shots. :4_17_5:

I have spent 16 hours on those knackered tuffs already! Another 8 hours and I reckon and they will be ready to roll! Im tempted to dye them blue for the Haro, like you said though, they can wait til winter and Im stuck in the house because of the crap weather!

very nice! :smitten:

Dia compe 880's were designed for freestyle bikes though and along with tech 4 levers were made in late 1984 , they even came supplied on Haro's
The Haro master 85 was supplied with 880 front not MX900/1000 ( but granted 84 Sport bike came with a MX 900 set up I think ;) )
Elina flyte tech seat 1984, Redline forklifter stem 1984 and Shimano SX pedals 1983 8)
Not sounding clever or telling you how to suck eggs , just trying to justify their era correctness . :)
I love era correctness on builds too , it's a priority to a great build :smitten:
